I started out using soil a couple years ago with good results. I switched to coco trying to get the big yields but just has Not giving me that. I never check the e.c only and every now and again ppm. But I'm about to give them a good flush nowl
That doesn't tell me much about how strong of an EC your running.
But to save time.
Water until you have lots of run off
Don't let them dry out completely
Use about 2/3rds of the recommended dosage from the canna grow chart.
Use calmag on new coco.
Don't give up so easily. Coco is a great medium.
Soil may be "forgiving" but it like any other growing medium takes time to learn the ropes.
Edit, I asked about the tap water because canna products are designed to be ran with tap. Tends to be better than RO.
Salt build up is one of the worst things a grower can have, as long as you water regular and lots with good run off at correct PH it can be avoided.
I was having problems when it was coming out the tap. I recently bought and before I had well water that came threw a softener so I had to buy all my water from the store which was ro water. When I moved same strain same lights same tent just at a different house with city water I started using city water right from the tap and it caused alot of issues. I started letting the water sit for 24 hours to help chlorine evaporate and things changed for the better. However these are new strains though. There is a big clue... water that has been sitting out for a day will be depleted of o2.
Unless you got a bubble in it.
Anyway o2 depleted water will cause big problems....
So will that salt build up.
Well if it sits for too long you really need to oxygenate the water. All you really have to do is pour it between buckets a few timesI was having problems when it was coming out the tap. This is true and yet not entirely bear with me cause im not a scientist.Well if it sits for too long you really need to oxygenate the water. All you really have to do is pour it between buckets a few times
Except that... You are. This is true and yet not entirely bear with me cause im not a scientist.
Firstly its untrue cause youd be hard pressed to tell my mom whos growing plants that sit in vases till the water is gone
Disolved oxygen levels are usually not the problem.
More proof can be found in the kratky method
The problem is getting water that contains the DO. To flow through a mass of roots.
Just my 2 not saying you are wrong or anything like that
Are plants in vases usually already cut like a bunch of flowers for example? This is true and yet not entirely bear with me cause im not a scientist.

Coco needs calmag from start.Tap water that has sat out for a day or 2. But yea I know about calmag just never had to worry this early in veg I always waited til about a week before flip to start calmag
We have house plants that live for years in the vases lol but its not a plant with a 5 gallon root ball eitherExcept that... You are.
Lol
But thats okay. I don't mind being wrong.
I'd like to point out one thing though and that is that how long do flowers last in a vase?
