what to do when your girlfriends brother steals your buds

Perhaps, but imagine the scenario when the thief accusses the OP of being a thief. The OP will not be able to counter with 'He stole my weed. I was just getting him back.' No. He will be defenseless when he is labled a thief. Totally not worth it..
Its his word against the punk kid's. The only person that might put that label on him is the dude he's getting even with... so who cares. Nobody else is gonna call the OP a thief without any proof. If he says he didn't take anything, then I'm quite sure everyone will have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Hell, if he does it right, he could even deny it to the kid he got even with and HE'LL even have to believe him.

As long as the little punk finds out how it feels to be ripped off, justice has been done. He doesn't have to know who did it. I'm sure the OP isn't the only person who comes over to this kid's house. Anyone could've done it. One of his little punk friends maybe.

Just be sneaky about it. One day when the kid isn't home, slide on into his room, locate something of value and take it. Don't tell anyone. When the kid comes home and notices the item missing, he'll start thinking of who was in the house that day... and the OP could just make sure that its on a day that several other people were there as well. That way, the kid can't point the finger at any one person. He'll just have to take the loss. He'll think to himself "damn, getting ripped off sucks"... and might then decide not to do it to others.

In order to teach the thief a lesson he probably will not understand anyway, the OP must:

1. Sink down to the thief's level and become a thief himself.
2. Violate the trust of his girlfriend by stealing from her brother.
3. Disrespect the head of the household by committing a theft on his property.
4. Be sneaky, as you put it, to get away with it.
5. Rely on the my word against his defense, which would be a lie.

Even if the counter-theft we're to come off without a hitch, which is unlikely, the OP is doing more damage to himself than he inflicts on the thief.

A quarter is just not worth the self-degradation required, or even the risk of being branded a thief.

Wow, you're over-analyzing. You sure are a timid person.

Over-analyzing? LOL! I notice you didn't say it was wrong.

Is 'timid' your code word for 'wise?'

My advice is much less messy. The OP takes the high road and safeguards his property so this never happens again in the future and leaves justice to the cosmos.

Life has a funny way of dealing with people like the thief.

You reap what you sow.

What goes around comes around.

We're just gunna hafta agree to disagree. I firmly believe in revenge...
and you don't. Nothing more to discuss. Neither one of us are going to
convince the other to concur.

When did I say I don't believe in revenge?

You keep telling me what I say, what I believe, and what I am; when you obviously don't have a fucking clue.

Letting life deal with the thief will be revenge enough, but you just can't seem to wrap your head around that concept.

I suspect you could stand to be a shade more 'timid' yourself.

:peace:

In this case it's not stealing. You are getting back the value of what he took from you.
It's the stand up thing to do. If he confronts you, I would just say the weed was x$'s. Just getting paid for it.

Truth is I would actually just say something in front of the whole family. Put him on the spot. If anyone wants to judge me differently cuz they find out I smoke weed after knowing me for a while, piss on em.
If his gf took the side of her brother, hit the road, no win situation.
You either enable or disable this type of person.

No need in getting all upset, homeslice. I'm just telling you what I gather based on your statements... and despite your denials, I believe I'm correct.

Letting life deal with bad people doesn't always prove to be effective. There are plenty of people who do much worse things than theft and never suffer any bad karma.

The OP obviously isn't gonna feel better until he personally does something about this. Thats why revenge was invented. It makes the victim feel better. Capiche?

Revenge = justice.

Call it what you want. It does not change it one bit. I already explained how the thief would not be the only person affected by a counter-theft.

Better to confront the thief and demand payment under the threat of an ass-whoopin in exchange for the quarter than to sink to his level.

With my suggestion the OP disables the thief by safeguarding his property in the future.

Now you're telling me I'm upset. You're awesome!

Not a worthy opponent, perhaps; but awesome nonetheless.

Revenge does not equal justice. Revenge is revenge and justice is justice. The two intertwine occasionally, but they are not the same.

Ask Santa for a dictionary for Christmas.

Still disagreeing.

See? Thats why I suggested that we discontinue this endless debate ...but you refuse to drop it.

The only thing for me to do now is just disregard any further posts you make towards me on this subject.

Carry on.

a swift kick in the crotch and an explanation of what he did wrong should suffice.

or you could leave a trap for him, e.g a mouse trap covered by a sheet of paper and a nugget on the bait dish. a busted knuckle for a silly thief
