What to do with rain?

I was wondering what to do with rain? My plants are still pretty new and it's been raining hard non stop here today . I put them in a small box taped it shut and put it inside a big garbage bag and covered it with a plastic table cloth. The weather forecast said it's suppose to rain until tomorrow. I tried growing once before but a heavy all day rain storm killed my baby plant and scared of that happening again.

Is heavy down pours something I should be worried about or am I doing a good job covering them up? Is what I'm doing right or should I do something else? When the plants get bigger or when they are ready for harvest is a heavy all day down pour still something to worry about?

if theyre very young fashion some sort of housing so they don't get pummeled by heavy rains

rain during flowering is not really a good thing. It really doesn't sound like you live in a climate suitable for outdoor growing.

I live in New Jersey it doesn't always rain here but at least two-three times a month. A lot of the time when it rains it is pretty light and the weather clears up after an hour. Heavy all day down pours don't happen too often. It stopped raining but it's still cloudy and forecast said a chance of rain later in the day. So I'm going to keep my plants still in the box since I'm leaving to go to work for most of the day. I'd hate for it to rain heavily when I'm some where I can't get to plants in time to cover them up.

Is a light rain that clears up in a hour something to even worry about during flowering?

if its light rain thats fine as long as its not down pouring for 3 days. and the reason you dont want rain during flowering is because it causes bud rot. but a little rain is fine remember they call it a weed for a reason!

Thanks for the advice it hasn't rained since yesterday morning but it's really cloudy out again. By plants are only 2 weeks old. When they get bigger and just in case there is suppose to be heavy rain I was just going to put them in a big box with a tarp covering it. Is that a good idea?

@DaPotDude No. The box will retain too much moisture. You should just put up a cold frame with a gap at the bottom for ventilation.

I have another question. Last night when I was at work we had a really bad rain and I wasn't able to cover my plants where they go rained on for a couple of hours. My one Cheese plant a small part of the corner of the leaf fell off. They are looking fine now since it stopped raining but is this going to be a problem?

No

rain doesn't matter when they're vegging, it's actually a good thing to get the roots nice and developed early so less watering is required later on.

OK thanks that's good to know. I was worried at first because the leafs were a little droopy when it was raining and they are all looking good. Then on Monday I'm going to start feeding them. I'm going to have to have to find better storage when my plants get bigger.

Yeah the droopy leaves are just a sign of the plant being over watered.
Any pics of the plant? how big is it?. be careful on how much you feed it.

Ok good they look fine now I don' t have pics yet but will posting some this week. I've been nervous on how much I feed I haven't done it yet but will this week too.

hey there, dont worry about rains. your plants are young and in vegging stage. so rain is no concern for root problems, molds or any of this kind. the only problem you might have is heavy rains that can break the branches. put them in a place with a roof on top, or just make some Improvised top cover to protect them from realy heavy showers. light is no problem at this time - remember weed is a plant and it grew in the wild way before you thought about growing it. they are used to cloudy days, rainy days etc.
rain becomes a problems when your plants are budded. if the buds get wet and dont get enough dry air folowing, they might develop mold inside. as long as its raining the mold wont grow. but when the rain stops, you should keep low humidity. you do that by shaking the buds to get rid of accesive water and put it in a dry as possible place with good air flow. do that and you have no problems. if the buds are real heavy, and it should rain heavily, support your branches by tying them to somthing (the main stam or to sticks you put into the ground). if the plants are in pots just move them to a dry place for the rain period, its cloudy anyway so a dry plant is better then a broken up rotten plant.
if its near harvest and it stayed in the rain, do the same, and if it worked for you, then you got free flush provided by god and nature.
if it heavily rains during vegging, remember to add nutrient after the rain cause the rain probebly flushed every thing from your pots.
other thing - droopy look - usuely after rains the plants look like that, due to over watering plus the weight of water on the plant (leafs absorbe water from the surface and get heavy) - after a few hours in a dry weather they should recover and they would look as vivid as you can expect.
finger rule - if your plant looks good - you are on the right track.
dont worry about things like "top corner" or the "tip of one leaf" - people get zits and scratches - it dosent mean they are sick or dying. if your plants is sick you'll see it probebly spraded on a vest majority of the plant and not just one leaf.
