What wattage light?

Im gonna purchase a 120x120 tent and change one of my hoods to a cooltube and have 2x4inch fans ,one for the tube and one for the room

The main question is, is a 600 watt light enough for my tent or would i need to buy a 1k ballast? i already have 4x600 watt ballasts do ideally i would like to get away with a 600watt. Obviously i want to provide enough light for my plants to get the most from them. I have read that a 600watt has a 5 feet square footprint

An off topic question, will a 4inch fan be enough for a 600watt cooltube if i am able to use a 600watt? I will be using a seperate 4 inch for the growing space

Cheers, Phatman

120 x120 inches or cm? old rule of thumb for HPS is 50-100 watts per square foot.you could use 2 600 watt lights.
the fan will be iffy but if the ducting is mainly straight w/ few if any sweeping bends, you should be OK

I'm not sure I exactly understood if you wanted a total of 4 or 5 total lights in there. I think you meant 4. Also in regards to switching 1 of your hoods to a cool tube, is that because your hoods are not currently air cooled?

Please clarify if this is correct:
This is a 10' x 10' tent and you want to light it with 4x 600 watt lights. If that is the case, then I would consider 4x 600 to be on the lower end of appropriate light for the space but probably doable.

In regards to the air cooling 1x 4" fan should be more than enough if you are using 1 per light. I currently use 1x 8" max-fan to cool 4x 1000w XXXL hoods. The hoods are plenty cool, but room temps could be a factor for you.

Please clarify the change of 1 hood to a cooltube. Also if you are talking metric, please disregard my comments.

a 600w will only cover 3x3 or maybe 4x4.

5x5 you need a 1000w to cover that whole space. A 600w will work through since you probably need space for fans ballasts etc

we are in america we use Inches haha........ 1000w=4x4 600w= 3.5x3.5 400w=3x3 theres some wiggle room there depending on hood but for the most part stick to those stats and you be good to go......

Your tent is 4ftx4ft if i did the math correctly which means a 1000w would be PERFECT.......but you can always get away with a 600w if you have a hood that covers well..But if you have a hood that penatrates better then is covers then you might not want the 600w and since you are going to use a cool tube id say based on my experiance with cool tubes is you loose alot of light.... I dont like my cool tube i get way better light from a regular air cooled hood.....

also if you havent bought the 4inch fan yet DONT....get a 6" or even an 8" dont worry if its too much you can slow it down with a speed controller ....This way you are sure that later you wont be kicking yourself for not getting the bigger fan and having heat problems.....
