well looking to get a lil bigger set up here soon im a fairly new grower and have been using strictly cfl bulbs which have worked great but are gettin pricy for the amount im gettin and the amount I need, I live in an apt smell hasnt been a big issue yet but i dont want my energy to show anything obvious....Im looking into a MH/HPS combo 400w something around 150 bucks to do 3-4 plants at a time i can always add a couple cfls for side lighting was wondering where online i can order a setup and what is some reliable manufactures

lol i just bought a 400w switchable system that I dont really need. With both bulbs and a reflector. PM me if you are interested, I might list it on ebay. Might use it, not sure yet.

All in all, that really isn't a bad value for someone trying to get the most for the least. But if someone were to then add a decent metal halide conversion bulb for veg, they would be getting close enough in price to being able to add just a little more and not only just go digital, but also have a one step upgrade in reflective hood too. For that is $184.95 close enough to being; "around 150 bucks?" If so, it's worth a look.

they will do you a 400w light kit for £69.95 or a 600w light kit for £65.00.

cheapest place ive found yet, they even do a 600w kit with a digital ballast for £115.00

I bought a 400w MH/HPS ballast w/ air cooled hood, hangers, and timer for about $200 after shipping. My ballast is a digital one made by Revolt. It's working on 4 plants very well imo. I bought it off ebay. I'm happy with this product so far. You should check them out.

I think the Lumatek digital dimmable ballasts are worth it. Mine is 400 and I run it with a 250 MH for veg. Then in flower, if heat becomes a problem on a warm day, I can cut it (without changing bulbs) down to 250 and that really helps with heat. I suggest that you would do well to scrape up a little more and not cut corners,

I've never had my ballast interfere with anything electrical. The kit on Amazon just looks too cheap to me. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

yes that's what a lot of guys do. hps all the way. i put my halide bulb back in for the last two weeks for increased uvb. but it's not necessary. the price was certainly right on that amazon deal. looks a little cheesy but it's hard to tell. if you can afford to splurge on a name brand like lumateck i'd advise going that route:)
