What will happen if I leave in small (ish) pot

Hi guys and gals...

I'm doing my first grow.... my plant is now about 9 inches tall...... and today I transplaned her from the small pot I used in the beginning to a bigger pot....

I don't know the measurement of it..... or how much it holds....but looking at pictures...and hearing 3-5 gallons makes me feel like its too small :((

The only measurement I can give is that it is about 6 inches tall...but the bottom is narrower than the top.

Can't do picture either :(
.I will let it grow 2 more inches and then start flowering. She has a lot of room to go into the sides....

So what will happen if i leave it in this pot?.. I can't really get anything bigger due to space limitations :(

Thanks,

TOm

Anything worth doing is worth doing right. If you transplant use the biggest pot you can then wait at least a week or 2 to get the root system right.
"The Bigger the root the bigger the fruit" good luck:bigjoint:

Thanks for replying guys....

I watched this video..and this plant grew pretty big..with a decent amount of bud and the dude kept it in a pretty smallish pot....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZt0XNNjluE&feature=related

I have the plant in a cylyndrical hamper..about 2 feet tall with reflective material on the side....

right now i'm using one 2700 lumen cfl overtop of it..... will add another smaller one jsut to add more light.... its a 40 watt.....equivalent to 150 watts...

what i want out of this plant is just to flower a decent amount of bud to smoke. and enjoy with my friends..i don't need a pound.... i'd be happy with 2-3 ounces....

Thanks guys!

I feel to get two or three ounces you will need alot more fire power (watts) and the plants will have to be about three feet tall minimum

Well my limitation is not height....I can manage a 4 or 5 foor plant.... I can add one more light as well..... but width is another story..its in my closet...and the closet is about 2 feet deept..and i cannot have it in another place.....

and i mean i say 2-3 ounces without a freakin clue how much should grow... in truth 1 ounce would be good for me..it would take me a year to smoke....

my main question is about the pot size..what will happen if i leave it in this smallish one...i mean its not tiny....i would say it s a medium sized pot....

If you look at that video link..the pot the dude used was pretty much the size i have ..if not smaller...

thanks guys...i know it must get pretty annoying with us noobs...

peace and love

That's because the video is of a cutting, not a seedling. Cuttings don't develope the extensive root systems that a plant grown from seed does.

If you have decent lighting, good ventilation, your plant should need watering about everyday, but only if it's dry on the surface, then poke your finger in and see if its dry about a nuckle length deep, if it is, water it.

Keep an eye on your roots. After you water it, tip it up and pull it out of the pot and inspect the roots, if they're coiling up inside themself, they're rootbound, and thats not good.

If it needs water more than once a day and you have good, strong lighting(which it sounds like you do), you need a bigger pot.

The more space you can give the roots the better plus the more dirt in the pot to draw nutes from

This is one of my clones I cut about three weeks ago it is currently 12 inch tall from the dirt. The pot is 6.5 inches around and 7 inches tall. You can see some of the roots are showing out the drain holes. This plant is planted in coco so the root grow amazingly fast. When your plant becomes root bound it will stop growing and will hurt plant over all. You can never hurt a plant by having to big of a pot:bigjoint:

Alright guys thanks for all the info....

I will transplant the plant again into a bigger pot.....

Am I correct in assuming that height of pot is more important than width?

And also, can I transplant a plant 2 days in a row? should I give her some time?

Thanks again dudes....

I would leave it in its current pot for about a week may week and half. The new pot is like twice as big as the old right so there will be plenty of room to grow for now. Transplant is a little hard on plant back to back could be bad!!
