The real winners are going to be the grow suppliers as everybody flocks to "grow their own". If you are willing to drive to CO I bet you can get grow gear for .20 cents on the dollar in a couple years.

I knew this was going to happen, at least in the very beginning because of the “novelty effect” and the grand opening of legalization, as well as the extremely exorbitant taxes that have been pushed for for the better part of the last year.
The black market isn't going anywhere, at least not for awhile , not while that taxing scheme stands and not while other states are still illegal. I predict that the black market will actually get a super-boost by opportunists willing to roll the dice and gamble growing to under cut the new legally regulated market because of how prices have jumped now and I think everyone is going to start seeing news stories of a black market surge in selling as well as Colorado cops suiting back up to go back out on door busting raids. CO locals and even returning tourists are going to start running into “secret private growers” with A+ grade willing to sell to them at or even a hair below of what CO-MMJ is going for and with this new pricing scheme of the “regulated” recreational market, the secret private growers are going to start making some serious BANK $$$.
I still foresee the DEA coming in before the mid-point of the year. I think Colorado will become the US black market growers supply hub for the rest of the non-legal states for 2014. With all of the tourists coming in and with the economy being at such a low point, opportunists will come. Since CO's A64 allows home growing, I expect many out-of-staters with greenthumbs and connections in their own states to start moving here to CO solely for pipe-lining mass amounts of their grow back into the state from which they moved from.
One of the things the Feds said was “ IF the legalized states keep it from crossing state lines, then we won't interfere...” lol , yup, this is how I theorize the DEA coming in a few months down the road. This is why I want other states to get the lead out of their ass and start passing their own legalization bills. When they start doing this it will play a part in lowering the prices across the board as well as taking out a good bit of the incentive for black market dealing and even cut into the tourist travel into WA and CO, and therefore these tax rates will start dropping when the state starts seeing recreational sales drop like a rock and so will prices in CO.
I picked up a free copy of the Westword ad publication volume 37 number 19 last night and was looking at the MMJ prices in the back, they are ranging as low as $100 for an ounce of MMJ to $150. 1/8's are averaging $20 - $25.
There's no way that the new pricing boost in the “recreational” market won't entice growers into feeding the demand for buyers that will be seeking cheaper sources. In the mean time, I think the Feds are going to sit still, watch, and wait for the black market increase to build up good before they start initiating raids on recreational dispensaries and it won't matter if the recreational dispensaries being raided are connected with feeding the out-of-state market, the Feds will justify ,distort, and twist any reason they can for raiding recreational dispensaries to bag up huge bundles of cash for their easy work. I think I-70 going east in Kansas is going to be a freakin super HOT SPOT for getting pulled over by Kansas state troopers and multiple counties of deputies throughout Kansas doing K9 searches on out-of-state tagged vehicles. They're going to be expecting the flow.
I do hope that Coloradans start giving the state officials hard hell when Colorado DA's start prosecuting marijuana cases again as a blatant waste of tax payer money.
