I have a very limited amount of seeds of a particular strain. I popped five and got four plants. I recently flipped them and discovered now a week or two later that my "males" are hermies.

Would you kill the hermies or collect their pollen and pollinate my females? I suspect that this not well known strain never had much effort to eliminate the 'hermie' tendencies. I only have another 5 seeds.

Or should I kill off the hermies and take my chances on the last 5 seeds? I haven't seen any sale of this strain on the market. It seems the 'breeder' is no longer in business.

i 100% percent agree with this man along time ago my brother got some soul assassin og clone only and we found some seeds in it we grew them out and it turned out too be one of the dankest OG's on the planet but the seeds hermied and we didnt save the seeds the bud produced and its my biggest regret! if i could go back i would have saved the soul assassin OG's hermy seeds man that bud was so dank!

Nanners are different than true hermies. Lots of good strains came from nanners. But hermies need to be killed.

So now you would willingly take on growing for generations chasing out the hermie tendency? I once spent an afternoon with a world famous TRUE breeder who developed a strain everyone has heard of. He told me about the generations he picked through to find stable non-hermie genes. When he released his strain he had spent 14 generations on it. That is a while.

It works great for me as I don't waste any time growing shit...well, if clones don't work for you, I doubt trying to breed for preservation will either...you'll need to take clones of both the females and any male you used so you can cross back to it again...or store the pollen and hope for the best

My opinion? Ditch seeds that herm, find a new stable project. There's plenty of shit out there, that we don't need to focus ANY energy on herming genetics.

Even if it's some "must have" strain, if it herms, do us ALL a favor & kill it with extreme prejudice.

it's not difficult to google and learn/research if it matters to someone, I enjoy researching others issues who don't want to search for themselves.. my apologies for trying to help?..lol

Orange Poison - OJB x Durban Poison bred by Obsoul33t Genetics (possibly a collab)..
Durban has been known to herm, if you search you can see it seems to be a strain that more than a few growers run into this issue. To me that would also include crosses including it. I also found at least one site that says you need to watch this plant as it grows..

I would just grab some Durban x's from @hotrodharley and trash these herms. Best of luck regardless what you do

Not all strains are worth preserving... like those with hermie tendencies. Seriously, there's no mega thread of heads trying to hunt down orange poison. Kill the hermies, grow the remaining 5 and see if you can find a decent, non-herming female. Otherwise, no, I don't think it's worth it to further these hermie genetics. Just my $.02

There are threads dedicated to plants notorious for herming, and the seeds aren't cheap either. Won't name names, but it's a nostalgia strain even though it's still in production.
