hello roll it up. I have a space that's 12 sq. ft x 5 ft. tall with 400 watts, 6 holy grail kush seeds, 2 pineapple chuncks, and
a few other quality stains. My goal is to harvest 1.5 lbs if that is possible. I plan on using coco or ocean forest soil. But my question is
what would the best growing method, sog, vertical, etc, to use to achieve this, again, if possible?

I would say hang the light over the pots, plant the seeds and water when they need it.
Seriously though i wouldn't place all the seeds you mentioned under just 400watts.
From my understanding you want at least 100w for each plant so just go with 4 plants.

Dude i just joined this site tonight and was able to come up with your answer through the reading i have done.
you dont have to go with 4 plants but if you want the most out of each plant with the light you have available, this is the best option
you could harvest 1 oz each plant if your lucky for a 1st grow, say you went with 6 plants under a 400, you will more then likely not reach this goal.

I have a 2 X 5ft flowering room.
have came out with 3/4 lb under my 432w t5HO....,
my next grow will let me know how much under 400W HPS.
I aquired my HPS half ways into my last grow, and noticed a diff right away.
cant wait to see my full grow with this lighting.
I believe we CAN do 1lbs and up with 400w.

on my my first grow..... 2oz dry flowers, and some bubble hash...., pay attention to your ladies and they will reward you!
