Hey fellow RIU members,

I posted this thread because I'm curious to see what people are using as a foliar spray. What's your mix? How does it work? When do you spray?

Also what're you spraying to prevent/ kill bugs and pests? How often do you spray it ?

I use (sparingly) and mostly during cloning "soluble kelp" mixed half strength (.5 tsp per gallon)
I have used it during transplanting as well now that i think if it
kelp has lots of good stuff.... :)

a couple times a week kelp meal and aloe vera in the same bottle. brewed in a tea then strained and spray.

once a week a botanical ipm of stinging nettle, lavender, rosemary, comfrey, dandelions, kelp meal, aloe vera. all brewed in a tea then strained and sprayed.

no bottled nutes. everything I grow myself except for comfrey, nettle and kelp. Get the nettle and comfrey from an outdoor farmers market. the dry kelp meal from the local hydro shop.

never use bottled liquid kelp or soluble what ever, some of the most toxic stuff ever. some of the same ingredients found in drano

i read a long time ago at the old advanced nutes site, about foliar sprays. this guy, (big papa, i think,") said he got good results foliar feeding in early flower to promote flower growth. he had some mix he'd use. i got some "spray-n-grow," and tried it. the plants seemed to respond, but there was no "amazing," results. i still foliar in early flower, and like i said, the plants seem to like it. other than that, i only foliar when i use neem, or i want to feed to solve an issue quickly. it's the quickest way to get something to a plant that's it's lacking nute-wize...

Thanks for all the input guys, I mixed 1/2 tablespoon flora nova grow with 1 gallon RO water, poured it into a spray bottle. I'm gunna lightly mist her in about an hour when the temperature drops to around 72 degrees. This weekend I'll head out to the hydro store and pick up some kelp meal. Again much appreciated fellas.

Today

Notice the plant wasn't standing up straight and today it is. It's also much greener.

What do you guys think? Spray daily? Or once a week type thing? I also sprayed the top of the soil while it was moist.

looks good just needs some time to get bigger, I would go light with the foliar, in most cases it's not necessary at all

Hey fuzzyl I sprayed her twice last week (3 days apart) and she's loving it. Greener than ever, I also fed 1tblsp. Nutes per 1 gallon. I'm going to kick it up to 2 tblsp next week!

I have used ewc tea brewed for 24 hours, just ewc and mollases. I have used a product called calmag that is a product designed as a foliar to provide and constant source of calcium and some other stuff. I have used neptunes harvest fish and seaweed as a foliar in veg, works great! I have used epsom salt as a foliar to combat mag deficency. Every foliar I apply 15 mins or less before lights off. I dont start any foliar until they are a month old. It is also not always necessary to spray the entire plant. I often just wet the bottom fan leaves, the ones that get dinner plate size, especially if they are in flowering. I rarely foliar for any reason in flower.
