What's a good r.o. system?

I think I need 100 gpd at least.
I use 20 gallons a week but I don't want to spend 10 hours filling it

Actually almost any of the little ebay 5 stage filters will strip your water bare, so pure you don't wanna drink it. LiquaGen is decent I just replaced my unit but I don't think the pH alkaline filters are helpful because the pH won't drop back down to neutral. I tried 2 or 4 drops of pH down per a cup of water and my pH was still 10.8. As a note if you get that LiquaGen ro system get it from Amazon if you can, not ebay. The Amazon model has a manual flush valve where the ebay model has to be partially disassembled for the initial flush. (a major pita for my installation)

I'm looking at a 50 gpd. But it has a 4 gallon tank.
If it has 4 g tank does that mean I can grab 4 gallons pretty quick and then come back later and get 4 more?

Thanks dudes.
I will check out the hydro logic.
But honestly, if I can get a cheap one that drops the ppm and I can deal with the low gpd then I'll be alright.

I visit my room once a day so if I can fill my jugs with 4 gpd that will do fine. Thats 28 Gp week. That should do

Anything 5-stage and you are golden. I use an ispring I got off Amazon for like 150, before that I had one by Eden filters, again off amazon, around same price... (was too lazy to uninstall old one for the price of a new one when I moved, lol)

Trick is, get the extra gear to go with it.... An ice maker hookup kit works nice... (Has the splitter, valve, and like 25ft of tubing) and also grab a float valve, and a 30-32gal Brute trash can.

Add in a ball valve w/ handle, punch that thru the bottom of the can, float mounted at the top, and you never ever worry about RO water again.

I have one in my basement, always 30gal of <5ppm water, and the filters are 8months old. Paired with the 2gal tank, and the faucet it cane with, and I always have fresh water for little things, drinking, cooking, coffee... and the brute has a garden hose for my buckets.

I DID have an issue a few months back, fair warning... buy a quality ball valve for the bottom "Out" line.... mine crapped out, I had to use a submersible pump for a bit til I got it empty enough to change the valve out, lol.

In the end, you will appreciate having the reservoir more than a larger R.O. it just takes too long without massive pressure. Its nice to know you can go to bed, and have the tank be full in the morning, no matter what you took out.

If that doesn't convince you.... remember this... In the event of emergency, or zombie apocalypse... 30gal of fresh water can be very important......

I have an HL and hate it.
Get a 5 stage, take the entire under the sink unit. It will do about maore than you need gpd unless filling 50+g in a hurry.

Dude! That's why I love this site and so many of the members here.
I wasn't even thinking like that.
I can get a smaller cheaper unit and use a res.
That's sounds like exactly what I need.

Do you just search ball valve??

I'm already on it. Basically Ill hook that r.o. up under the sink. Run 25 feet to my res. Install a float.

So now how do i get my water out of there? I do have some spare sub pumps So i could just run a tube to my aero and water change day it will probably take 10 minutes to fill...

You could set the res up a foot or two, install a spigot/faucet and fill from there or run a line to the bucket(s) with another ball on it and crank it when you need water. Gravity feed it. Up to you really on how crafty it is.#IMO

My res is parked on top of 4 concrete blocks to keep it above 5gal bucket level. My local hydro shop has a wall of fittings and valves for air/water lines, if you don't have such, any hardware store will do.

I got an outlet fitting w/ a 5/8" barbed end, and just used a piece of garden hose I had around. When the valve I installed the first time crapped out, I dropped a spare sub pump in (used same size hose at least) and just hooked that into a power strip, so I could on/off it at need.

MAKE NOTE. If you go the 2nd route, you ARE making a siphon.... it will KEEP flowing until you either close the valve (if installed) or raise the end of the hose ABOVE the water level in the res.

Wouldn't wanna flood out ur grow room on ya ;)

Just grabbed a r.o. system for 80

Need a float valve and some water line.
The water line should be 1/4 inch right??

I'm just going to set the res on the ground and use a pump to fill my aero res..

I don't need an auto shut off valve do i?

The unit should be complete and not continue to send waste water down my drain... right????

I want to install an RO filter in my garage for both drinking and watering. I figured I would fill a pitcher to keep in the fridge for drinking. My question is.... My next grow is going to be Ebb and flow. How should I configure the RO system to allow me to use it for both? I'd like to add float valves so they can automatically fill and shut off. Also do you fill a separate Res with just the RO water and then mix your nutes and pump it to another Res that your using to flood your table? Any experience/advice would be greatly appreciated!
