whats going on ??? electrical help

so i check on my shit like i always do and found my timer was outa wack, on diff day and diff time. wierd. so i unplug everything and reset all and plug back in still timer wont turn on auto but will run on ON.
wires are warm not hot but warm. and this is just starting tonight. im running 1000w hps n 3 fans that it so what it going on. should i stop it n close up (fix what ever it is ) or is this normal

Wires should never really be warm, are you doing the light and all the fans through the timer? if so, get the fans off of the timer and try the light and see if the wire cools off, if not, I would replace the timer asap and go from there.

are you guys using a contactor

small yes the in & out fans are on 247 the light is on timer but yes all is pluged in to same timer

and is your timer plugged into a contactor

Lol! Firstly, no-one needs a fire. And most definitely no-one needs a fire started from a grow set-up as then u could be talking a few other complications, beyond burnt buds.

Like ASV said, wires should never be warm; if they melt u are proper fucked - what sort of timer are u using & are u also using some sort of extension cords, etc?? Also, what ballast u got for the light? Plus, running it all off 1 socket isn't always good either.

Certainly with a 1000W, i don't mean to sound rude, etc but i'd deffo say invest in a decent, new ballast if urs is way old, and also buy a good, heavy duty timer rated to handle at least ur 1000W load (don't buy Chinese cheapo either) and quality, protected extension cords - for the sake of an extra £50/$50/whatever, it'll be cheaper then the bill the insurance company laughingly send back to u, if the house burns down.

a contactor i think is a heavy duty switch which takes the shock of all the amps your pulling when your lights come on, its stops your timer frying

ok so my timer has 4 sluts on each side thr right side of the timer is not on time just normal outlets adn i had 2 fans in &out pluged in. on the left side ON timer was light and inside fan. this is all on a 15 amp @ panel. its been fine for some time now. but i swith the fans to diff plug. so on timer now is out fan(on 247) and light (1000w on timer.

no bob it was all running off timer off 15 amp own breaker

rwbg... its a white 3 prong dig walmart timer( good for 15amps @ 1800 wats) on one 3 prong orange extension cord.

and bob its just pluged into wall socket.

But as for the timer being outta sync & playing about, i don't think thats due to any electricity issues/warm wires, etc. I think that more just sounds like the timers buggered & u probably need a new one anyway. And with most digi timers, if the timer bit goes, then it usually means it was bad quality to begin with, so hence the materials/construction job of rest of it might also be poor, hence why wires getting warm, etc possibly. I could be wrong but it does sound abit dodgy to me.

ill look into it im taking every thing out soon and going to re wire with 30 amp breaker new wire ect and going RDWC so it will all be done rite

Fair enough dude - if the timers been running alright recently then i'm not too sure, but one other thing is i do know that HPS do draw alot more current on start-up,so warm wires could just be reisdual effect of that. Maybe just have a google tho for heavy duty timers 1000W HPS & see what comes up & what sort of ratings they got. If urs compares ok then i guess u should be fine electrically & its maybe just the digi timer bit has gone.

ya checking rite now and keeping a verry close eye on things.

And yeah good u on the case too man! Always good to be a little para! Sounds like stepping up the breaker, etc is good idea as even if there never was problem now, a re-wire give u alot more peace of mind & save u having to always be worrying about it! Best of luck anyway man!
