grumpy where in aus are you from? i've heard that avocado tree's grow in really hot tropical places, didn't think you'd be able to grow one in australia.. interesting

Tons of assortment in my garden. Many juvenile avocados and mangoes, 2 juvy Canary Date Palms, 4 beautiful papayas (2 with healthy fruits on them!) Purple possum passionfruit, tons of odd colored coleus, some jalapeno peppers, juvy christmas and vetia palms. The list just goes on.

Man, thats a tasty sounding lineup. I love fresh dates. They actually make a great shake with some ice cream in the blender. That was a big thing when I lived in the desert. Fresh local date shakes... mmm... I always read this thing high and get the munchies...

You eat the fruits of the canary date palm? Is that what dates are? I have heard of them, but never seen them or tired them. I have heard of people eating saw palmetto seeds/fruit to help with prostate. If we are talking about the same thing with my palms, i'd be stoked to find out some types of ways to eat the fruits. They are not nearly old enough yet, but there are some in my hood fruiting.

Hehe, I just found a flowering tomato plant while cleaning the backyard, seed must have dropped on the way to the compost heap.

Yep, dates come from date palms, something I didn't know til I visited a date palm ranch in my teen years. Very sweet, delicious fresh or dried.

Just noticed your summer garden. Very nice. Are you trying any cool weather crops.

I have some squash vines that are doing great, and most of my peppers are still producing well. Any suggestions for good winter crops? I haven't tried too many yet.

Might try some cabbage, now that you mention it.

I have one flowering at the moment, hope to collect some seeds from it, it flowers after two hot seasons, hope it was worth the wait.

I have kale, cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower. I plan to set up a cold frame for lettuce, onions, carrots and chard.

in my indoor I have Turnip greens, Mustard Greens, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Okra, Lavender, Green Onions, Bell Peppers, Hot Peppers, strawberries and trying a couple watermelons. Basically brought my outdoor garden inside.
Also brought in my Concorde Grapes from outside, my first time trying to grow these.

Been a busy morning, planted 6 eggplants/aubergines, 3 cucumbers in a neat cage I made myself last night, also 3 bell peppers and a handfull of sweet potato slips I made myself.
I see my grape vine looks like it may fruit this year, and the mangoes are comming on nicely, much more confident in dealing with them this year after watching some youtube vids.

Still gotta make 2 more cages today plant cherry tomatoes and last 3 mellon seedlings. I need a paintball gun to keep my cats and dog out of my patch though.

Lol, didn't get through everything.
I did however do all the cages I need for now. I also planted A kadoma fig tree in a giant container, its a grafted tree and allready fruiting allthough its just over a foot tall, gonna be a huge tree some day.
Also planted a pepino melon (some people call them mellon pears or pear mellons), its a realy nice fruit from Peru. And carries these small peach sized yellow melons with a thin skin.
My little veg bed is right outside my window at the PC, so I get to look out over it, and shout at the cats alot. My back is proper fucked tonight.

LMAO. My cat eats everything, especially my dank plants.

My baby fig tree, I mulched the top of the pot since takeing the pictures, I'm busy brewing some compost tea now, this should boost growth, get the organic compost broken down and keep pests away. Mulching the beds helped for the cats as there is no place left to dig crap holes in.

I realy suggest you look into makeing compost tea. It takes about a day and a 5 gal bucet of it can be diluted to cover 5 acres, or used as is, on as small an area (as can stand that amount of water without drowning) as you want to.

The only plants that don't realy need it are things like the cabbage family and kales etc.

Its basicaly a method of multiplying the soil bacteria and fungi exponentialy, they are the critters that makes soil, soil and not just dirt.

Man thats a nice pepper, mine normally look about as gnarly as my plant. I saw yesterday its new leaves are comming in, I kinda thought it finaly died.

Today was the first harvest... Still over 30 tomatoes on the one plant alone... this was one of the smaller ones that seem ripe.
