What’s on my leaf?

I have heard of those sonic humidifiers leaving mineral deposits all over plants. You need to use filtered water with them. Strange how it's in clusters though on the leaves, I would think it would be an even layer of it were from the humidifier. At first glance it looked like bug damage to me. Can you wipe it off?

Hose those down with some Neem Oil or other pesticide on the top and bottom of the leaves. If you use an oil based spray make sure the lights are out. The more I look at it the more it looks like bug damage. Something sucking the life out of your leaves from the bottom.

I looked at it through my macro lens I use to do trichome photography a while back and no bugs that I could see. I'll check again. I can't wipe anything off which leads to believe it's not bugs. But I'll check one more time to be sure. They are in week 5 of flower so spraying isn't an option.

Yeah, checked again 3.5X magnification. Nothing is moving. I don't think it's bugs. I don't filter the water though. And the mist is coming up from under the plants in that vicinity. Only have a 2x4 tent. 2 plants.

The fact that you can't wipe it off makes it seem like it IS bug damage. If it were mineral deposits they wouldn't be permanently in the leaf. It looks like bug damage, not actually bugs themselves. Mites will suck the life out of your leaves from the bottom side. Pluck a damaged leaf off and look at the underside with the microscope.

you say its on the older leaves, i shouldent worry too much as the same thing happened to some of my plants too. they all survived, but do keep an eye open, thost mites are lil fuckers at hiding

if you arnt sure, just buy some preditor mites online and hang the little hanging bags up that should deal with a small invasion

I am sure, that is insect related either a leaf-hopper or similar, long term aphid infestation also starts showing those weird little spots after a while, but you’d see those little demons hanging under your leaves and all over the stems...but its definitely bug related

My first grow in my first tent started doing that. And then the whole fan leafs wittered and died. It just kept getting worse allover the plant. I found out the roots were rotting because the tank was hot. and bad micro organisms were in my water. Make sure your water is cool and well agitated.

Thanks everyone. I’m growing soil so not sure if it’s a root issue. I see the odd fruit fly looking thing but not very often and since my tents are in the garage figured fruit flies escape the compost bin at the other end once in a while. So far this is all minor minor damage.

I looked under with my macro lens 3.5x and see nothing moving. I can see the leaf fur at that magnification. I’ve had spider mites before about 15 years ago and you can see the crawling around with the naked eye plus the webs they start too.

I’m thinking it’s thrips. I showed the pic to the OG at the hydro store and he agreed. I got some sticky strips to hang in the tents and some spray for the veg tent. I’ll report back tomorrow and see if I caught any little f..ckers overnight.
