I haven't checked today, but as of yesterday no visible roots yet. However, they are perfectly green and standing straight up with the leaves reaching up towards the light. I will check and update tomorrow.

So, it's been 7 days and no visible roots coming out of the bottom of the tray. As you can see, they are still green and bound to start showing roots any day now. They are along side some friends that were dipped in clonex gel.

Were the clonex gel cuttings done the same day? Cuttings from same plant, or clones of the same plant?

Just wondering because if they were we can compare more readily. Even if taken from the same plant 2 days apart if roots show on one, then the other 2 days apart, we can say its basically the same. hope im making sense.

The clones dipped in clonex were taken two days after the clones dipped in cinnamon. They all came from the same plant. No roots yet. When they start popping out I'll update this thread.

With this much time gone by, the cinnamon experiment is already inconclusive or failed. The experiment is over and the results are in. Cinnamon sucks balls. I've had better cloning results than you're getting with plain water.

i just switched. still using clonex gel and rockwool but instead of thrive alive i'm trying out roots excelurator from house and garden with great results.

Really? 10 days is too long? And I don't use cinnamon regularly, this was just a test. I'll check them later today.

10 days isn't long enough in my opinion. Hell, I've had Harlequin cuts in a cloning machine for a month and no roots.

It's too long to see cinnamon as a viable alternative to cloning gels.

Sure it didn't kill the plants, but it sure didn't help either. Like i keep trying to say, I've on occasion had faster results using plain water. Ordinary water. Do you guys know what inconclusive means?

I know what incolclusive means.

It means post up some pics of your plain water process with time stamps.

The clones that root with cinnamon vs the ones with willow water and rooting powder will be more conclusive relative to this particular experiment....from what I am reading and fwiw.

For the record you can stick a clone in a plain cup of water, water changes and a bubbler will speed it up....but it has nothing at all to do with this particular experiment.

There is a huge genetic layer to successfully cloning, certain strains take a lot longer. Finding the mother that will keep quickly replacing all the cuttings and taking the proper care of her is a high priority. I use gels a and root stimulator...I take more than I need and use the fat and healthiest. The mothers are cloned often and heavily sometimes, new growth dominates them and needs time to accumulate hormones to help out roots, alternating mothers is one way to keep them producing with vigor. Too much cutting is a stress all at once.....find a way to limit potential stress Silica, Superthrive, Fulvic Acid, Kelp, and Bennies for the mom. It all starts with mom.

Any hormone will work.

Get a heat mat and learn to use it.

Keep all items as sterile as possible.

Get a standard clone tray, add a couple cups of perlite to the bottom.
Soak the rockwool in ph 5.5 water (about a gallon or so).
Make sure cuttings are from healthy plants.

Cut cuttings with clean razor, exacto, etc at 45 degree angle.
Dip in hormone.
Put in rockwool.

Once all are in put on the lid with closed air vents. Don't mess with them for a few days except to fan them a couple times a day.

Don't over complicate it.

When they start to show slight signs of yellow they're rooting well and need to be put in good dirt with mycorrhizae.

I used to have major issues cloning. not any more. I do hydro. just plain water ph to 5.0. and keep the water cool or the air in the room cool. under 70f never have any problems with a small light bulb 35 watts is fine. 24 hour lighting . I get a 100 % success rate. it may take 3 weeks to root. but plants are very health . any nutrients added will slow down root development. because the plant does not need to make roots because it has all the nutrients it has, so if not nutrients are in the water or rock well cubes your using. the plant will form roots to look for some. hope you under stand. also I ca keep a plant for a month and a half in the water with out feeding it stays health and green. the most important about ave good yields and great plants is making unstressed clones. very important

Cinnamon powder for hormones and raw honey as antibacterial, anti fungal + sugars for food, dip n grow and clonex works great too, but it's way more expensive than cinnamon and honey. If you have anything left after you done cloning - just dump in in your tea or coffee and enjoy!
