Whats The Best Soil To Use

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is a tad hot for seedlings (most strains). A good tip I got was to start your seedling out in a small container with Fox Farm Light Warrior (w/ 25% perlite) and after a few weeks transplant to a bigger container with Fox Farm Ocean Forest (w/ 25% perlite). Using this method you wont need to feed your soil until about the 5th or 6th week of growth.

I have been using Fox Farm Ocean Forest and 20% perlite for seedling for the last 3 years and never had a problem. I recently tried Roots Organic soil and I lost 3 seedlings. For veg FFOF is great, for bloom Roots Organic has more P than N.

Well, the first step to awsome beautiful big buds is your soil. I love to use many types of soil. The more diffrent types of soil with beautiful nutrients the better your plant will produce. growing from seed i use peat moss .. plain old peaty doest the trick well... then when you are ready to transplant into a bit pot...well... First i like to put sheep poop on the bottom of the of my pot.. i know weird but it has lots of good stuff in it and it acts as like rocks on the bottom of your planting pot. then in a seperate container i mix a half bag or peat moss .. 5%worm castings potent as hell..., 10%sandy soil mix ... compost, and the top soil... then mix all together and put horse poop(available from the race track) as a mulch right ton top of your beautiful mix..then another pea staw mulch on top of that .... hot places= mulch mulch mulch!

the more effort and love you put into your soil the better your plants "fruit".

So it seems there's 2 ways to do soil? One is to just make a mix that has little to no nutes in it, then you feed nutes when you water?

The other is to mix the nutes into the soil at the beginning, and then you just have to water? Does that last the entire grow? Is it possible to mix in too much nutes like guano and casting from the start and burn plants?

I started in hydro and am kinda confused on how to choose soil and nutes

Topsoil as in: stuff you find yourself outside? Same question with sand?

I've read that it's best not to reuse soil since it might be more prone to bugs and such. If you reuse it you can heat it in the oven to get rid of the "bad stuff"

homemade soil is the best. get a recipe, make it, store it in trashcans, or bag it. i

i also make my own mix up so that i can afford to buy other bits and pieces, i'm not super rich.

i use something like a 4:1:0.5 ratio, john innes no. 2, perlite and 5mm sand for nie airy mix with good water retention and good drainiage if i overwater

A friend of mine that I know online ( we were in the same gaming clan ) lives in an area with no hydro stores within an hour drive and only has the usual lowes,home depot,walmart etc.. The only soil he can find is basically miracle grow and scotts.. He cant find bat guano either and the only perlite he found was the kind w/ nutes in it.. Ordering soil online and paying high ass shipping really sucks ass. But ,he ordered 1 bag of fox Farm Happy Frog from htg and it costed over $60.00 ( for 1 f'ing bag! ) .. Now how gay is that shit?
