Was driving home after a high school game when I was 16 going down a main street in my town. I was in my little piecer car and the car next to me was a raised truck, you know the kind. We were going about 45 when I saw a kid run out to the middle of the street, get to the turn lane, see he can't cross the other side and in a panic ran back to the sidewalk he came from. I had to swerve into the turn lane to not hit him but the raised truck to the right of me wasn't so lucky. He slammed on his breaks but the wet pavement didn't help him at all. Was right next to him as the kid got slammed by the truck and slide down the road at least 30 meters, hitting his head and looking like he snapped his neck on the curb. I stopped and didn't know what to do out of shock, thought I just witnessed a kid die. He ended up surviving after some brutal injuries, kid was only 8 or 9 and his older sister and little brother were on the sidewalk watching the whole thing happen. It was pretty intense for me at the time.
Couple years down the road, my junior year in college, some buddies and I were smoking in a house when we heard a helicopter and what we thought was one landing, then we had a friend run out to where we were smoking screaming that there was a helicopter landing in the field behind the house, we started FREAKING out thinking we were getting raided haha. Turns out a student needed to be life flighted and the college used the field as an emergency landing pad for the helicopter. Pretty freaky at first for us high kids haha, but we got to watch it land and take off quite in front of us which was pretty cool.
Freshman year of college woke up to my dorm shaking and everyone freaking out, turns out the blue angels had a show later that day so that morning they were practicing, our campus was their turnaround spot so they were constantly flying over relatively low, was really neat to see that too.
