Indefinitely. I've seen mothers kept for years, I keep mine for 6-12 months usually only starting over when I want to grow a new strain.

I have had mine for years now there are things you can do to keep them Healthy Like changing the soil and Pot trim. they will last as long as you take care of them. I do also on some strains Never keep a mother I just Clone and grow them. good luck

I use the general rule of thumb that if they are over 50% damaged then take em off.
