What's the white fuzzy stuff on my soil? See pics.

Problem solved with good old fashion education. In fact, there wasn't even a problem. I'm firing up the vape.

THANKS to everyone for the help.

I've never done this, or read up on this.

When doing this, you guys arent concerned at all about ripping roots?

Nah, I ripped the hell out them. Ask me again in a couple days if it was the right move.

We discuss this more on this thread in organics: click here

My advice, I wouldn't do anything to your plants until you have "experienced" RIU guys look at every detail that makes up your grow and then listen to their recommendations.

Lol, you didnt stop after you notice you were cutting them?

It makes sense to do it, if you can keep from cutting the roots. But would people really recommend putting the plants through that stress?

Cant the roots that were ripped of get root rot and mess the soil?

The roots that broke where hair-like in size. Anything thicker stopped the rake.

I was gentle, just being dramatic because I'm paying WAY too much attention to PLANTS.

In the grand scheme of things, seems kinda silly when you look at it that way.

Its not just a plant, its green gold.

Ill take a brick of weed before a brick of gold. (sounds like an addict haha)

But weeds just so peaceful calming and... loving lol.

Gold causes death, hatred, and jealousy.

Ill take your plant and pay attention to it for you if you wish, since its way ahead of mine. lol

OK, so here is the wrap up of evaluating everyone's feedback and doing some more reading in the books.

I aerated the top 2" of soil and did not apply anything to prevent the growth of the saprophytic fungi. Because I have not transplanted the plants since they were seedlings, I chose to plunge down to the bottom with a metal rod to open up the air flow in my 3 gal containers.

If I killed them, lesson learned, and I will only listen to bmeat's advice from that point forward.
You surely did best. You do NOT want to kill the spore colonies or alter the conditions that fostered them. They are a sign all is well. The roots will thank you - watch.

Good on ya for just doing it at all. Watch the changes over the next couple weeks. I probe 5 to 6 holes daily. One hole = 1 push straight down. But feel free to take your knife and insert along the sides of the container and saw away any roots touching the sides. A smart bag would.

Hotrod you've been smoking and growing longer than I've been alive. I'm 45 and still learning. Not ashamed at all to admit that.

Beside, I like telling everyone you're older than dirt! :bigjoint:

what an idiot. i wished death on your plants..and looks like theyre going to die.

h2o2 or peroxide works by oxygenating whatever life it encounters. it releases into h2o and o.

mixing up the fungus will do nothing to kill it, only help to spread it more.

when it forms on top of the soil agian, message me to let me know. not if, but when.

even if you kill the fungus, itll come back if the cause (environment) isnt changed. you didnt even kill it..

harley is a smart fellow, but he tried to tell me plants dont operate off of sugar (chemical) energy. even vets make mistakes

UPDATE:

It has been 30 hours now since I tilled and aerated my plants. No signs of stress. They look happy. Not dead.

I will keep you posted and shoot some photos soon.

roots are growing until the mid-end of flower..he had a strong root foundation..the mold will come back though. 99% sure of it.

Of course the mold will come back. As usual, you totally missed that in the earlier discussions.

Mold is good. It's in the rest of the container, top to bottom in my ORGANIC SOIL.

Breaking up the top 2-3" does not wipe it out or hurt the plant.
