What's this mean?

Do these white hairs mean it's trying to flower or does it just mean it's mature? Pictures included...

Now let me explain I'm new to this and it's my first time growing. So when I first started I misunderstood the light scheduling and thought 18/6 was 18 hours off and 6 hours on. I used this schedule for months before realizing I had the light schedule backwards ,lol. So about 2 weeks ago I noticed a few little white hairs and when I started doing some research that's when I found out about the light schedule situation. Since then I've been running it 8/4 or 8 hours on and 4 hours off because I was scared it might stress the plants since they were used to the 6/18 light schedule I ran them on for months. But now after 2 weeks the hairs are everywhere at every cola and coming through the cola tops or tips, the pictures don't show them as good. The plants look great though so should I keep them in vegetation or if they're flowering should I go ahead and flower them in 12/12?. I've done some small trimming along the way. The only thing I've noticed that's off is the newer stems or branches on the top of plants are turning people, some completely purple and some turning purplish. But like I said the plants look otherwise healthy. The canopy is a nice green color. One person said as long as it's healthy don't worry about the purple, one person said maybe it's something to do with nutrients or watering, and another person said it could be stress from temperature or humidity changes. When my lights are on the average humidity is 65-70% and with lights off it's 75 up to 80%. Temperature averages about 72 with lights on and 65-68 with lights off. Any tips or suggestions would be really appreciated.

Sounds like the light schedule sent it into flower. You could flip any time you want from here on. As far as recommendations, if possible try to raise your temps up to around 80 with lights on, and try and get your R/H down to at least 50%. If you don’t have a circulating fan, get one to keep the air moving in the tent, lowering the chances for pm and bud rot. The plants look great!

Thanks for the information. So if I flip is it ok to use a dehumidifier for the humidity? And what's a good way to raise the temp?

you basically started her with flower light.after around 21-28 days she should have started flowering no idea how long is it been in your case.
but she looks like she is flowering there is more than 1 single white hair meaning buds have started forming.
you can raise the light to 12h to get more buds. question is have you finished with the stretch and is it worth the 2 months wait now.

yes you can use the dehumidifier for the humidity just don't let it run until it dries the whole room haha. i would recommend you to look in to what VPD is.
what kind of lamp are you using?
and are you growing in dirt or water or coco?

if you don't have auto-flowering seeds you could bring it back to veg, you would get some ugly growth and it would cost you a lot of time....

Dehumidifier will work great, you could put a small heater in the tent (oil bath, low heat) to raisse the temps, if you have the room to safely do it.

Most dehumidifiers put out a lot of heat you might be good with just the dehumidifier for heat.

I have 2 plants growing in Fox Farm Happy Frog using NPK Raw Grow and Lotus nutrients. My lights are 2 Viparspectra P1000 in a 2.5x2.5x63 here tent. The lights are suppose to be 100W a piece and they have Dimmer Knobs and Samsung LM301H LED Diodes. The VPD averages between 0.8 to 1.1 with lights on but it drops to around 0.4 and 0.6 with lights off. Oh and I'm pretty sure its not auto flowers. Thanks..

Those little hairs are called pistils and they show the sex of the plant.

Is a ventilation system necessary? I'm definitely having humidity problems now. I only had 1 grow light but I added a second light Friday and the humidity is high now. The humidity is in the 80's. I'm going to pick up a fan right now to help with air circulation but will that also help with the humidity? Also I have a small 6 inch fan installed inside one of the vent holes that's blowing air out of the tent which was helping a little with the humidity before but now it's not doing much. I know while flowering the humidity should be around 50% and I'm at 85%. That's a big difference and I really don't know what's the best way to get the humidity down. Thanks for all the help.

An quality exhaust setup and dehumidifier will save you more money in the long run than you could imagine. Fans help, but if it is hot and humid it's just a coin flip a day until you get WPM that ruins your whole plan.

Yes it's kinda needed good airflow is a must

Ok so with the ventilation setup do I let it just blow outside the tent into the room or do I run the duct back into the tent so it circulates the air back into the tent? I've heard of so many different ways to run the ventilation and I just wanna make sure I'm doing it right for my situation. Thanks again for the info.

You want a smaller intake fan for fresh air in and you want a bigger exhaust fan for the out you can vent into a room just make sure the air your drawing in is from elsewhere so it's cooler ideally

Just a update I got the exhaust ventilation setup and wow what a difference. I found a Carbon Filter with the fan built in to it. It definitely allows me to have more control over the humidity. I just want to thank y'all for the info.

Dehuey. Expensive but will do the job. I have two of them. One for backup being used in drying room so I know I have a working backup. 2-3 yrs life on average. They dont make them like they used to.

They do run more effecient now days though. 380w. I wouldnt use anything cheaper. About $200. I get humid summers 85+rh and dry winters which is great. Well used to be consistently, lately been having 80rh winters too.

Just wanna give everyone a update. My plants are doing amazing. I decided since they were already flowering to go ahead with it. I know my yield won't be as good but both plants aren't small. There's Bud sites popping up everywhere and the plants are still growing. I did get the 4" exhaust or ventilation system and a dehumidifier as well as a oscillating fan. I love the ventilation system it allows me to control the humidity very well. I hardly ever have to use the dehumidifier and I only use it occasionally at night because the humidity tries to go up during the nighttime. I could probably just turn up the exhaust fan higher but I don't want it running on high all night. I would like to ask if anyone knows of any tricks or a good way to keep the tent sides from sucking in while using the exhaust? I got the Vivosun 6" Oscillating Fan sold on Amazon and it really moves the air. My tent is 2.5ftx2.5ftx63" with 2 plants so it's kinda tight side to side which puts the fan really close to one branch and it blows it pretty hard so is that a problem or could it cause problems? I only ask because I keep seeing stuff online about wind burn and wind stress. I try to only use the fan during the day and then off at night. It moves the branch when it blows it and a couple leaves on that branch fly up but so far it hasn't broke anything. Thank y'all for the information.

I have a 2.7 x 2.7 x 63 and have been watching you for a while. I am in seedling stage but it looks like my number 2 bucket will not launch and a reseed 3rd time will put them to far apart. It is great that you got good advice and you acted on it to help your grow. Good Luck!

Wind burn is real. So is friction burn from rubbing against tent walls and scrog netting. Fan speed seems to be the main culprit. Canopy should move but not rock. My adventures in how to grow have me training stems away from light but being substantially into flower that aint gunna happen as your stems are prolly stick like.
If I was really pressed to get airflow I would look for some foilage down low that can be sacrificially trimmed to make a fan pocket moving up through the canopy.

I got same issue with tent walls I saw you can use a clothes hanger and wedge it in the corner to fluff out tent walls. Il show you if it works like im sure it would otherwise theres poles you can buy that clip on the poles with adjustable length to fit your tent.

Are you checking highs and lows on a hygrometer? The use of exaust fan (for me usually kept on high) and dehumitifier use is dependant on how packed your tent is. If its filled nicely for yield but snug not smushed against each wall, the dehuey wont be on as much.

I dont use clip fans oscilating etc no fans in canopy just the exaust. For me yes it just bothers plants and spreads things like dust mold spores etc things that would of worked its way out faster. Get caught in dust filter of carbon filter.

There should be negative air pressure to reduce smell but it moves air like RH and temp, no dead spots due to negative air pressure. Just blow out some ecig or dab vapor into the tent, youll see it disperse wildly fast. To me a canopy fan just makes it linger longer just does more harm than good but thats just me.

Just set this tent up about to put a couple plants in it to flower. Set up another tent next to it no clip fans. I got like 8 of them for no good reason, about to give them away.
