they really are. they start at 90 lm/W and fall off rapidly. spectrum is good but T5s beat cfls in every area and they are commonly available in 2 foot lengths so i see no application for CFLs. the new cheap A19 leds have made them 100% obsolete

And I moved plants in a 5x7 room with 400 watts of LED cobs to a 2x4 rack with 432 watts of T5HO bulbs. The bottom 8 to 10 inches of the plants leve died because of lack of penetration from the T5HO bilbs.
Clearly the LEDs kick the shit out of the T5HO fixture. Less than half the square footage with more wattage and still could not compete with the LEDs. Granted not all LEDs will do this but to say that LEDs cant compete is false.
I also have seen in my grow where the LED is working much better than the 1000 watt HPS in the same area with less wattage. I can not say how they compare to any other lights because I have not run other types. But with the T5HO and HPS it is not even close.

I am lurking here trying to learn about COB's but this. This.
cfl's are the most cost inefficient lighting there is. If you mean flouro's in general, you may have a logical argument with induction depending on the PAR rating.

welcome to the 1% club lol.im a bit different though with zero debt tons of credit cards,own my house well over 100k income.well not debt free,i have 3 payments left on a 2015 truck.and lots of land north of here.i still worry about this world economy because as @Abiqua put it its on very thin ice.i always think back to 9/11 when a few planes crashed into some buildings and the whole country freaked the fuck out in minutes.gas prices here went from 2.00 per gal to around $8.00 in a few hours,people acted like fools.had it been worse like a nuke most people would not be prepared.im not perfect but i do know i have enough bullets to eat squirrel and crow for about 20 years lol

COB currently is the best on the market for PPFD and GPW Period.

Wow that article is so full of holes. Starting with the 20s and going forward. In the 20s the unemployment went down below 4% but in the 30s it was well over 20%. What a big difference increased taxes had.
And the fact that the dems never lower taxes on the middle class but somehow raise them when they say they will tax the rich.
Here is the dirty fact that is never talked about by writers like this and pro republican writers politicians must sell tax favors to stay in office. Get rid of the government selling tax favors and we get rid of most of the problem. It is the selling of our government to the highest donor that causes the little guy the problems.

What I don't understand is that Cree cxb3070 are going for 20$ a cob and the CXA3070 are 15$. The CXB3590 are like 35$ a cob and people are talking about other brands. Citizen and the Vero all seem to cost WAY more than cree if you are going through Kingbright. So why is there a discussion about Cree's cost being high when they beat everyone and are the best? By the time other brands catch up I won't be shocked if you can get CXB3070 for 12-15$ a cob. We will be building 225 watt lights for 150$ and be top of the line.
