No 150-250 is a very little. The pebbles are very very small not like a rock pebble. it calls for one cup for every gallon of soil I have 5 gallon pots and didn't even use a Eighth of a cup more like a pinch. But what you said makes sense so I might take out the top layer of soil/coco to be safe
