What's wrong with my new forming leaves?

Have you checked your pH?
It was quite high at 8 this whole time!
I received my PH and EC meters the other day and gave them a low feeding and PH at 6.3, this was 2 days ago I don't really see any improvement.. I was thinking maybe I'll start to see the difference on the new leaves that are coming out, but at the minute I've fimmed and the new growth doesn't look too pleasing tbh.
I'll attach another close up of the new growth and where I did a bit of LST to bring some branches more towards the light.IMG_20200809_145814.jpgIMG_20200809_145922.jpg

so from what I've seen on here and other sites is that the waxiness on the leaves happen when the RH is too low. But thats just theory. I also read that it could be genetics... and wait! There's more! Lol. I saw a few people on here that said they've fed with only water for a few feedings and the leaves went back to a light green with no waxiness... but thats most of the info I could find quickly for you

Thanks a lot for your effort in finding a solution for my problem, what I did for now is add a small bowl of water which seems to maintain the 55% RH and raised my light (Omega CFL 300w) a bit more and I was actually thinking earlier like you said by feeding it just normal PH'd water for the next feed or 2 just to flush it a bit in case the reason behind it is over/under feeding or soil PH is too high due to it being fed at around 8.0 PH for most of it's life.
Anyways I'll keep posting with updates if anything changes! ;)

This is what I've found so far on your problem if it is a problem...

"Waxy coatings are barriers between the leaf and the environment, and they can help the plant retain moisture in hot environments. The coatings can also deflect the rays of the sun to keep the plant from transpiring too quickly, and may also discourage pathogens, like fungi and bacteria, from entering the leaves."

Or

"The waxy covering on plant leaves, young stems, and fruit is called the "cuticle". It is composed of cutin, a wax-like material produced by the plant that is chemically a hydroxy fatty acid. The purpose of this covering is to help the plant retain water"

Or...

"This waxy substance does not cover the stomata, but it covers most of the leaves, keeping the plants cooler and reducing evaporative loss."

So from what ive read maybe your plant is doing this because of excessive heat... the only other thing I saw that this does is help to fight off bugs that could be eating the leaves but your plants look really healthy so I would say excess heat

Your soil was too hot for the young plants. If you are using ffof or similar soil you just need to give water only for the first month. Nothing wrong with your plants just a lot of N in the pre made soil.

Another possibility is that its a genetic Expression brought on by led lights. For whatever reason led lightning brings out that weird pigment in the plant.

So glad you could help this person out! I could only go off of some REAL quick reading online... was on lunch trying to help out. Hey at least I learned two new things today!

I had waxy coatings when my light was too close... I chopped my plant to hell while mainlining so the leaves ended up coming off and it never came back with new leaves with the light keeping its distance

Wow guys, I really can't thank you guys enough for this information! What I have done so far is move my 300w CFL light a bit further away from my plant to reduce the amount of direct heat it's receiving as I believe that's where most the stress is coming from, also as we've been getting temps up to 30°c + here in England for the past couple weeks which we weren't prepared for increased the temps even more inside the tent so I went and bought a small air cooler and humidifier to see if that helps a little, also regarding the soil, I'm using Canna Terra Pro (Not the Pro Plus+), I've only fed them twice and that was after transplanting which was about a week ago and I put half the recommendation on VitaLink Earth Grow and full strength Root 66 and that was like I said on the last 2 feedings until yesterday when I just fed her only water at 6.5 PH with no other additional additives.
I will post any changes and also I honestly can't show you guys enough appreciation for all this help and information, but thanks so much and happy growing!

I'm glad we could help you out. Thats what its all about! Hopefully things are easier going for you from here on out. You helped me learn something as well! Here's to preventing waxy leaves caused by high heat stress!

Man I'm beginning to think its just in the genetics of the plant! I se your temp is at 28? Or is that your RH?
