Let it dry like i said. It needs oxygen. Not enough can get to the roots if it's sitting in water.

I just get soil with no time release nutrients and mix my perlite and lime into it now. Perlite for drainage
and to retain some water while the soil dry's, and dolomite lime to correct the acidity of the soil.

Just head off to the store and get it a healthy medium and you'll be fine.
