when are males ready?

I have never let a male fully develop, but I want some seeds, so I'm letting 2 of them mature to collect pollen. I am about 2 weeks into flowering and the two males are getting pretty big with plenty of clusters of sacs. My question is, when can I collect pollen? They are in with my girls right now and I don't want them to pollinate everything. I also don't have room to move them to another area.
Anyone have a time frame on when I should try to collect the pollen?

hang something to under the pollen sac and wait for it to fall
doesnt take much of an air current to disperse it

dude... if you have plants with balls you might want to cut them off now..... all you need is to have the sacks develop... cut it down... put the balls (the entire little grape looking cluster) in a paper bag... it has enough water in the green to stay alive for a few days....

so you cut put them in a bag ..wait a few days... and they will burst open.. then you can have the pollen in the bag.....Be carefull.... the pollen goes everywhere..... You will most likely have seeds on some of the other buds....

To minimize that....

I mean you donot need 1000's of seeds...

So what you do is go to the bathroom (take a spray bottle with you.)
transfer the pollen into a zipplock bag... you donot need much.. A teaspoon might be too much... Think that the pollen are like individual seeds... In any case... yeah transfer... seal. then wet everything down... bags... arms legs yourself... shit take a shower and burn the clothes..hehehhee... well maybe not that extreme.... but you get the jist...


Now you can just stick a bud into that bag move it a round a bit .... make sure all of the pollen that is in the bag doesnt fall out... (bend the plant inot the bag... not the bag over the bud).. anyway.. i think you get the point.. this will minimize the contamination some.... But remember that with the fans and all that.. it will get to the other buds... Its just that this way it wont be everywhere....

you have males in the flowering room? i would NOT do that even for the slightest amount of time unless you are constantly watching the males because sacs could fall at anytime depending on how big they are
if even a little pollen gets anywhere your grow can go Horribly wrong:cry:

thanks again for the help! I'm confidant that they haven't released any pollen yet in to the flowering room. I chopped them and put the clusters of balls into paper bags. Hopefully I can collect pollen and store it for a month until the ladies are ready.

They need light to keep growing. Put them in a ziplock bag with the end opened for air and put them in the light. I just did it last month with my grow and it worked great. Just enough pollin for 3 buds to get pregnant. I tapped the branches in the bag and collected the pollin on a q-tip and rubbed it on the buds.

NO problem man.... dont know much about how long the pollen is good for.... the balls will break open for the next few weeks at least good luck man :joint::peace:
