When can I start nutes?

My first grow and I have a few seedlings a week in and I was wondering when is the earliest you can start feeding nutes. Obviously in small doses but will it damage the seedlings. Growing in FFOF . If the answer is already on the site please leave me a link in this thread

You shouldn't have to feed for a while in the FFOF. That stuff has a lot of nutrients in there.

Don’t need to feed for a while if you’re in ocean forest. Do you have any extra perlite or anything added to the soil? I’m Promix which has no nutrients at all, a seedling won’t need anything for two weeks so you can go longer. Maybe at three weeks in you can start a light 1/3 strength dose and see how it looks. Key is to water correctly, especially in the ocean forest which will stay wet longer and more compact than other mixes. What size pot or cup are u in and how much do u water how’s often? The watering thing can hurt you before the fertilizer thing. What nutes do u plan on using?

I’m in 16 oz solo cups right now. They are under 3 ray 22 leds on an 18-6 schedule. I don’t have them on a specific watering schedule. Except I usually give water when the lights first come on. Other than that I just check for when the top soils dried out a bit. I water until I see a slight run off. Usually about 2 cups of water split between the 8 solo cups. Planning on using emerald harvest 2 part nute series. I’ve haven’t seen too much about them on this site but I’ve heard good things word of mouth.

My opinion is that runoff in a 16 ounce cup i t a bit much for such a young seedling but if they’re green and leaves are standing up good, then go for it. I tend to give my seedlings maybe 10 tablespoons of water in a 16 ounce cup when that young, and then add a tablespoon or two each water. I don’t get runoff in those cups til I’m ready to transplant after maybe two and a half weeks. At 7 days old, I doubt I wet much more than half the cup

Using two cups of water for 8 of the 16 Oz solo cups would be 4 tablespoons of water per cup. That’s not much and wouldn’t come anywhere close to runoff. Makes me thing the soil must be really wet underneath for such a small amount of water to give you run off

Sorry I meant 7 cups not 8 but I’m pickin up what you’re puttin down. So I started in jiffy pellets and as soon as they sprouted put them in the solos. There are definitely some cracks in the soil around the pellet. I pour till the top as a little build up then I squeeze the cup until the water seeps into the soil and repeat until I see a little run off from each cup. The front 4 are mataro blue, the back 3 are blueberry 48EAC234-B330-4E06-B8FE-0F5F1C34B92E.jpeg 04454F3C-840A-44DD-8E5C-5A452F974498.jpeg AB69F0F3-5505-4297-BEC9-1628E49314B6.jpeg 48EAC234-B330-4E06-B8FE-0F5F1C34B92E.jpeg04454F3C-840A-44DD-8E5C-5A452F974498.jpegAB69F0F3-5505-4297-BEC9-1628E49314B6.jpeg

4 - 6 weeks depending on the strain. Then start to feed at 25-50% and adjust up slowly, good luck

Ok gotcha..they look good and the watering amount sounds closer to right. Yea I’d say keep up the same unless you notice droop. You’re good for probably a few more weeks without adding nutes. If you’re going to go all ocean forest in your next pot up, you won’t need to use heavy nutes then either. Start low ar 1/4 or 1/3 strength and watch progress. Look for leaf coloration changes and the manner in which the leaves sit. Praying..flat..dropping etc. nice used fox farms ocean forest and transplanted every two weeks til a few months old and started flower. The constant up potting with new ocean forest feeds them ok and you shouldn’t have to go crazy with nutes. But yea..I’m getting too far. For now..just wait. You shouldn’t need to feed until after they’re ready for transplant.

Suggest you invest in a decent EC/PPM meter and read up on how to use it. pH is easily checked with cheap litmus paper. Buy some of that and forget pH meters. Hanna brand are affordable and reliable. Buy some of the calibration solution sachets with it. Good luck and keep it simple .
