When do the recognizable buds start to form?

Alright, so hypothetically speaking, if a plant from schwag seeds was started on the 12/12 light cycle about 3 weeks and 3 days ago how long should it take to start forming actual buds and not just hairs? Also when does the pungent smell kick in? Is the smell always going to smell like plants and very very little of weed?

It would depend on what kind of strain your Schwag is. Of course you don't silly me. :)
Do you have a picture of it?
For some strains they can show pistils after just 2 weeks of 12/12 while others can show after 4 to 5 weeks.
Buds will slowly grow by then.

They have plenty of pistols, quite a lot actually. They just dont LOOK like buds. I'm pretty sure they are sativa, too paranoid for pictures... I already cut down my hermie, these are for sure females.

They might be strains that have a longer bud cycle. Should have some pretty potent bud. If you are getting hairs, then your buds are forming and your plant did a lot of its main stretching. Try not to stress them it slows down the process.

Why do you think it should be potent?

The strains that I have tried that had like 10-12 week bud were very potent. Ghost Train was one of them, think it is a haze is why. Can't guarantee yours will be potent, or take that long to bud. Just speaking from my little experience.

What type of lights are you using and how close are they from your plant?? Without knowing that, your plant should start its flowering stage in about 2 weeks or so. wait a couple more weeks (3 weeks at max) and you will get that nice seducing smell. Nice sized buds wont be visible until the last weeks of your plants life.

8 1600 Lumen cfl's and a couple other cfls of unknown lumens. they're about 2 inches from the bulbs

Then your good to go. Just make sure your plant gets light from different directions not just the top. Doing this will maximize the amount of bud your plant will produce
