When do you start counting the flowering cycle?

50/50? Kinda overkill ain't it? You NEED to know that while the buds are drying. Their (trichomes) still aging/converting...

For the record. I don't count at all. I just watch my plants and the trich's when the time nears.
IF, I were to "count". I would start after the stretch is over and the budding actually begins......Counting days does NOT, in ANY way tell you "when" to harvest!

Is it when you switch to 12/12 or once they start to show flowers?

By showing flowers in this context, I am not talking about the pre-flowers you see when a vegging plant has matured. but rather ... the first sign of flowers 2-3 weeks after starting a 12/12 cycle.

2-3 weeks? My plant showed pistils and top flowers in 2-3 days after 12/12.

I count from first day of 12/12 . This Atomic bomb is 30 days In and took approximately 2 weeks to start flowering.
There should be consistency amongst growers in this matter. Basing flower times on when flower clusters start forming isn't .

Cannabinol is the primary degradation product of THC and increases in concentration with plant age. The concentration of this product in the bud is heavily dependent on the time of harvest. Harvesting the bud at a late stage also means that the concentration of CBN in relation to THC will be higher when compared to the peak of THC production.

CBN is only mildly psychoactive and can cause "fuzzy head", drowsiness, disorientation and sleepiness in the smoker, properties that can be considered unpleasant in nature compared to the clear high of the THC.




In other words ....... watch your trichomes ... they will tell you when to harvest.

I just came across this thread and it amazes me how far we have come on the view and knowledge of CBD in just 5 years!!! Awesome
 
So was thereally ever a unanimous decision on Wether we count from day of 12/12 switch or from first site of a pistol?

Or is everyone torn down the middle like everything else!

I definitely trust what Subcool says, but every time this noob asks this question I get a different answer. I was seeing conflicting info on how to count and not sure on my first grow when to harvest, so I sent an email to Seedsman and they told me to count from when I first saw flowers! :-? Since I couldn't find a definitive answer, I decided to split the difference and stagger my harvest - I'll see which batch I like best. But I guess a main takeaway is not to rely too much on the calendar, and more on your eyes and knowledge of your environment, etc.

The word you want is " decussate " which means : even branching.
 
I know right? I count from the day I switch from full sun, to less than 12 hours...it's too iffy, not all plants are the same...I go by the colour of the pistils, and the cloudiness of the trichome heads...it's relative.

LOL, nice job reviving a 8-year old post. I never did keep that cut, as the 55-day J1 cut I had was better.
