when does the 1st week of flowering begin after switching to 12/12?

I am sorry for this question but when does the 1st week of flowering begin? I have 1 plant that started week 8 of 12/12 yesterday. So is into her 8th week of flowering or less? She looks great alot of buds, white hairs changing to red/orange and starting to recede into the buds. So maybe someone could tell me when they start counting flowering weeks after they switch to 12/12.

Switching to 12/12 is considered flowing for most strains.

Unless it's auto flower then it could flower in a 18/7 environment.

Sounds like your girl is 8 weeks into flowering. Should be about done this week or next. Lets see some pictures mate!

My indoor plants are on 18/6....in my Veg Room…

When I change them to 12/12 in Bud Room, there is about a week, [the strain I am growing] takes 6 days to show hairs/buds….

So I call the week between veg and bud the conversion week…

If you were growing outside, when would flowering start? The minute you see first signs of hairs, I use same idea for indoor…

So, when did your plants first show signs of hairs?

I have tried taking pics, my camera sucks. The strain is a cherry bomb from bomb seeds. The breeder says 8 to 9 weeks. I switched over to 12/12 on may 25th. Yesterday was the start of week 8 of 12/12.

about 1 week after starting 12/12. the strain is a cherry bomb from bomb seeds. They say 8 - 9 weeks of flowering indoors. So I am guessing she is at weeks 7 of true flowering, so maybe about 2 more weeks?

I consider that first week of 12/12 the transition and stretch time not flower time. Once I see hairs form then it is in full flower.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few people doing that to make it seem like they took less time then they actually did.

I just count the days that the plant has been under the 12/12 light cycle. Other people start the count after they see the first signs of white pistils after the flip to the 12/12 light cycle. Either way will work though. I guess it is just personal preference.

On the one hand, it doesn't matter because the plant is ready when the plant is ready. However, if you're trying to match up your grow time with what the breeder suggested, include a week of "transition" between veg and flower. Or add a week to what the breeder told you.

So if I hear something is an "8 week strain" then I know it'll be at least 9 weeks from flip.

Depending on how you do things, most strains will mature and show sex while still in veg state. I usually hit them a week before they come out of veg with flowering nutes. So, in my case, I considering flowering to be the minute I move them into 12/12.

I should point out, I gradually change the time instead of switching to 12/12 right away. I't already has it's transition at that point.

For planning & scheduling future grows (perpetual) the day they hit 12 / 12 is start.
For one room to another and to have them come out in a timely way,, it helps me plan & fire.

Never knew if it was "politically correct" though.

Fast grow 2mo/2mo. Yeah that's about it. Clones to increase the yield.

I like to go big and bushy. 4-5 weeks on clones and 2 months on seed. Clones get topped at 2-3 weeks and then into flower at 4 weeks post clone machine transplant. Seeds get topped at 3 and 6 weeks and go in to bloom at 7-8 weeks. Depends on the strain too.

I'm known to be a little Edward Scissorhand with my girls. A bush to me is like when my fade wears off. LOL

Like someone here already said. If you were growing outdoors, you wouldn't start counting the days until you saw clusters of hairs forming. Indoors, if you veg females long enough, you will get pre-flowers. If you switch the light over to 12/12, there is usually a week or so before the buds actually start to grow. This is why you see so many people complain they thought they had an 8 week strain, but it took 9 or 10 to finish (example). A plant doesn't start producing flowers the second you switch to 12/12. It takes a bit for the plant to sense the days are getting shorter. Just like if you take a plant out of flower and put it back to veg. It will keep flowering for a week or two.So it is basically- when you see the clusters first start to form, you can start counting. However, you should never harvest buds just because you were told it was an 8 week strain, and you just hit 8 weeks. You need to watch the trichs and then decide basically.

If you call a rose a turd, it will still smell nice.

The weeks listed by breeders mean that when you flip to flowering, then flowering has begun.
If you want to wait until flowers appear to start counting, then disregard the time frame the breeders give you on your flowering times.

DJ Short says his Blueberry is done in 8 weeks, that means 8 weeks after you switch to flowering cycle.

Well, most plants show sex in veg... You must flower very early.
