When does the change happen? green->purple

Good evening RUI,

After medicating a question came to me, when do purple genetic cannabis plant turn purple? I know most turn purple late in flower(that's all I've grown). But do any actual veg purple or turn purple early in flower?

i got some purple kush and some grand daddy right now, havent put anything to bud yet so i dont know but i'm curious as i've never done any purple strains.

Yeah when i first heard about purple I thought the whole plant would be purple but your right usually purple late in flowering. Some strains will grow purple buds all the way through a lot of times with green leaves it seems. Anyways I would love to see some purple plants in veg or early in flowering and pink pistils are awesome too. I saw a guy a few weeks ago had like a purple seedling I wonder what happened to it or if it was some weird light or nutrient problem.

I could be wrong, but short of nute deficiencies or too cold of temps, I don't think they really turn purple in veg, aside from a very small amount of color in the stems. But even in flower, if it isn't cool enough, a purple variety could still remain green, and not change color.

how cold is cold enough? does it have to be cold all the time?

my purple urkel wasn't very purple and i wondering if the temp or something i controlled was the major factor.

Temp is definately the controlling factor. I'm not sure how cold it has to be, though, but I'm sure you could search around the forum for the answer - or go to the grow logs, and check with a couple growers that do purple strains.

Temps in the low 60s will lock out Phosphorus and cause mad purple-ing, Genetic purpleing normally happens late in flowering and some dont even get that purple... this is due to different Phenotypes in dna.... however if you take a clone off plant that turns out to be really purple 9/10 the clone(s) will be just as purple
