k so my girls are ending week 4 of flower. i was wondering when is it to late to clip the lower branches off to get rid of all the sucker branches and buds that wont produce much. so my top buds will get the nutes and energy. but i don't wont to stress them out enough to turn hermi on me

thats the first ive heard about branches fighting over food on the same plant ... dont think by cutting off your lower branches your plant will have less to work on there for growing more suffiecently it just doesnt work like that , 1. your plant needs the lower branches for flowering as thats where it stores nutes for when it starts to bud .2 u will just be losing yeild ...let your top colas get nice and good then trim to the lower colas and grow them out

4 weeks into flower, there's no reason to trim. The trade-off between stress and hormone direction will cancel each other out.

However, in veg, it's DEFINITELY better to trim whatever you suspect won't give you the big buds. Just like FIMing redirects hormones to other branches, trimming bottom branches directs hormones to the tops.

IT ABSOLUTELY WORKS JUST LIKE THAT. It's called science. If it didn't work like that, topping or FIMing would be a myth.

ok for starters when your topping your plant your stopping all the upwards growth so yeah its going to grow outwards if it cant go upwards ......but cutting of bottom branches is a different story because your plant is still growing up and out

dude so what your really saying is if i have 1 PLANT with 4 Colas but then decide to cut 3 colas off my plant is going to grow at something like 3x as fast LOL? as i said earlyer it doesnt work like that

You should do that 1 or 2 weeks before you switch. But give it a try, dont cutoff any big fan leaves, just the lower spindly branches.

take some clones ....the bottom branches are the best for clones coz they store all the carbs for the plant .... just put them in 24/7 light to switch them back to VEG

Supercropping! ive done it up to 3 weeks into flower. Its usually used for SOG. To allow airflow under the canopy.

I'm new here but have about 8years exp and used to mod on OG. You dont want to cut off the lower FAN LEAVES. These produce mass amounts of photosynthesis and you will me kicking yourself if you get rid of them. If they are blocking bud sites, you can tuck them out of the way. SUCKER BRANCHES are another story. If you see a tiny underdeveloped bud, not getting enough light, on a stringy spindly branch with poor internodal spacing, cut that baby off. Depending on your setup, you may not have the luxury of consistant-strength light everywhere on the lady. Yes, you can leave them and use them for trim, but sucker branches will steal nutrients that could be used by your main colas. Cheers!

Are those floros your only light source? Try to keep the ladies shorter so that the reach of the strong light isn't exceeded. You will larger buds and longer colas and less wasted plant material. Try a 250 or even a 150 hps.

thanks man yeah i new i need to leave the fan leaves but those little sucker branches i havent decided yet i am probably gonna leave them on for the hell of it this time. and now those cfls are just on the side i have a 250w hps on them right now. and buying a 400 watter here shortly i just wanted a lil side light. that one branch seems to like it
