When should I "top" my babies?

Or when there is 4 or more nodes. Is the timing crucial or could I do it at anytime during vegi? It's my first time chopping away. I feel like im giving myself the snip lol. For indoor I usually top at 4 nodes. But, I re-top again another 2-3 nodes later. Make sure your vegging another 2-4 weeks after topping. Outdoor, I top at 3 nodes and then every 2 nodes or so. Trying to get more of a bush than a tree! Don't need 10 feet trees for everybody to see!
