When should you top your plants.....

ok sorry if this has been asked alot....did a search and couldnt find anything....so when is it best to top your plant.....i have heard you are supposed to do it every 3rd node....and this will give you a super bushy plant....everytime you top it then it splits into two branches....is this true....do i do it at the third node and do i do it on every branch....will this just fuck up my plant....also when can you first sex a plant....thanks for the info.....

you might be able to tell the sex by preflowers but not usually until a few weeks into flowering.
i top my plants once they look big and strong enough to handle being cut.

I sex my plants after 2 weeks. I top between 3rd and 4th nodes

should i continue to top them every 3rd or 4th or do it only once.....how do you sex a plant after 2 weeks.....

3rd to 4th nod topping seems pretty standard to most and u can start sexing after a month of veg growth tho seeds will not be sexual mature till around 2 months

i would just do it once as each times takes a few days to recover

idk im jus new to dis but i think u can top it 3-4 times up to u or eve moa. it'll be nice to get sum info off dis to if u dont mind

I top between the second and third colas for four large colas everytime, but thats from seed... From cuttings I top above the third node...

I agree. I topped between my 2nd and 3rd node and I have 2 plants with 4 main colas. Wait til your plant is about 6 nodes high and top at the second true node. On here the method is called Uncle Bens Topping Technique

This is what my plants look like now because I did what it says here, the first one has it's 4 main colas coming up from the middle, the second spread out into 4 individual main quarters:

thanks for all the help everyone.....so i topped my plant a couple days ago and it has exploded.....would like to post pics....do i just use photobucket like most other forum sites....

na you can just post them srtaight into the thread. Click that little button in the reply box that is between the world and the movie clip, it looks like a picture of a tree with 4 black sizing squares on the corners.

not sure what strain this is as it was a random seed i had.....this is about 3 weeks from seed...maybe the start of the 4th week.....2 days after topping.....

right on thanks....i can really start to see the growth now too.....checked on it this morning and its starting to look like a bush....one of the leaves is starting to look a little nut burnt....some yellowing on the tips but the soil is also getting dry.....so i watered to see if that will help first as i dont feed it nutes much......
