When to add nutes? Help a new grower!

That makes sense for liquid nutes. Question, I've heard it takes 2 weeks for top dressed dry/organic ammendments to become available to soil, so then should I top-dress at week 3 (day 21) in a 5gal container of Ocean Forest? That way nutes become available right at week 5.
So I am using FFOF and didn't need anything added until after the first month, then i just incremented up slowly when i saw signs it was looking for more nutrients. Then I did a topsoil dressing at 4 weeks and saw no issues. This is just my experience from one grow lol. so not much experience but one trial by fire. :bigjoint:

I should add, that when I first got everything together it showed signs of nutrient burn and that was just from the soil alone. It quickly moved past it but still something to look out for.

Thanks for the reply I guess I messed up! What I added was 0-.5-.7 at less than half what they said to add. I hope it doesn't set me back to bad! ☹

I worried about that at first but look at it like this, you WILL make mistakes so you mind as well get them out of the way on the first grow so your second will be that much better. The plant is resilient so don't get too disenfranchised too early.

Best of luck and happy growing. I know it's only up from here.

This depends on the size of the plant and growth rate in that 5 gallon. It also depends on if you fully filled the 5 gallon pot.

With that said yes. You need to plan ahead.

For me I wait until week 5. Then I do a Dr earth tea for a faster absorption rate. Then 2 weeks later I begin my top dressing program.

Sweet i got Dr. Earth 4-6-3, so i just make a tea with it? By that you mean just mix with water before pouring?

I just did after looking and reading it seemed to be the easiest for a new grower
Look into super soil and ditch that dirt. M3 Mix, Just Water type blends. Especially at a small scale it's economical. When you're growing 24+ plants in larger containers coco or hydro seems to be the only economical option these days.
