When to flower? My first grow...

Alright, so my main question is when should I flower or, how much longer should I veg?

Keep in mind, one has 8 main tops and the younger plant has 2 main tops.

I am using lst to keep it short for the time being but I know it's about to start growing quick here soon.

I am growing two photo plants in a 2x2x4 tent.
I am using a Viparspectra 300w LED.
2x SoMango Feminised in 3gal fabric smartpots.

One is on day 35 and the other is on day 30 from sprouting above soil.

I have 48" total to work with.

My light hangs 11-12" down from the bottom of the light, and has a 8" gap between the top of the light and the top of the tent. So that's 1' taken away already.

That leaves me with 36"

The pots are 3gal fabric pots that are about 8" tall.

That leaves me with 28"

Both of my plants are about 6"

That leaves me with 21" barley over a foot and a half.

my light needs about 12-16" roughly above the canopy for flowering.

Which means I barley have room for another 6-10" for my plants to double during flowering.

They seem so small at 6" though given how much space is available at the moment.

Should I flip to flower soon? I did not plan on doing a scrog my first grow.

I know I still got another solid week before I really need to consider switching to 12/12.

Any recommendations? Couple of pictures...

Sooner than later because they will more than double with stretch if you veg them out much longer they will outgrow your space

The more you top a plant, the shorter it will be after the stretch.

Maybe top that one on the right, wait a few days and flip it. Keep LST-ing for a week into flower to keep them low.

I figured I got another week for sure, maybe two tops.

I actually ended up topping it right after I posted this thread lol.

And I cut off some of the small bottom leaves on the plant with 8 mains.

I'm not going to touch them anymore, just lst until flower and a week or so after I flip the light.

I'll see where they are at in a week and decide if it's time, I just stunted the growth a little on both plants.

So I might be able to squeeze in two weeks more of veg time without much more growth height wise.

I'm sure in two weeks they'll still only grow another 2-3 inches tops.

Guessing that's an indica auto? What kind of plant are you growing?

If it's an auto what day are they on?
Hi thanks for the quick reply , I don’t know what they are they are random bagseed and the biggest is 3rd week or so and the smaller is about 2 weeks old

Yeah buddy it sounds like you have some auto's. Which in that case you cannot veg as long as you want unfortunately. :/

Autoflower plants start the flowering process when they want to which is usually 3 weeks into growth from seedling even when leaving the lights on 18/6.

Photo period plants are great because you can leave them in veg for as long as you want to top, lst and let recover before deciding to flower them, which mine are both photos.

So you will just have to lst as the auto grows.

So I might as well flip them now or just the larger one or can I grow at 18/6 off

No you don't flip the light switch for autos.

Autoflowers are meant to flower on a 18/6 schedule.

So leave your lights on 18 hours, the other might not be an auto?

Unless they came from the same bag...

I’m not even sure at this stage I should have labeled my seeds and plants because now I’m not sure even which is which it could be from two different bag seed lots, just cross my fingers and hope I guess..

Just leave you're light on for 18 hours a day, let them sleep for 6.

Leave it like this for the next 2-3 weeks and report back to this post.

well figure it out together lol
