When to harvest... Pistils or Trichomes?

I'm nearing the end of my flowering period...

My pistils are white everywhere....The trichomes are clear as well..


Which indicator do you look for/expect to see first? Pistils going orange/red/brown, or the trichomes getting cloudy?

I'm just a bit confused here. I have read so much. Some say trichomes, some say pistils..

Both, but trichs are more important (40 -50%) amber, and full like a balloon that has been blown-up all the way. While trichs are still growing they look more like mushrooms.

The pistols should shrink-in as well as change color, but the trichs are more important IMHO.

Thank you. my pistils are standing at attention...no turning in at all....Flowering period is supposed to be 8 weeks with this strain...I'm at 6 weeks right now....I wonder how fast things can happen in two weeks...

I think mine went from white to brown in two days. Starting week 9 today on a trainwreck and am trying to figure out flush, etc. Good luck!

yep-get yourself soem mag.glass and check those trichcs.also when the 50-60 %pistills have changed to white 4 red, brown coldish and the trics are cloudy, then its time to harvest.

You have to take a number of things into account.

2 days?? Really?

your plant will likely flower longer than 8 weeks, the website you got it from just tells you that so you will buy it! haha but be your own judge, don't set a time limit

They're usually pretty spot on...

i just cut my last NL plant it was looking so sad from the cold i couldn't stand it any longer. i started it too late and it just couldn't make it. lower leaves had maybe 30% amber tris, upper mostly cloudy but it didn't seem like there were as many as there should be. all that aside, i tried some bud last night i'd picked 10 days ago and it was nice. real nice. and that's what counts. melted pain away and distracted me from it at the same time. i think for pain you should let them go until amber is turning into brown. that would give it a stronger body buzz and less of a trippy tch cerebral. sometimes you just take what you can get. next year i'll start my girls with the peppers and tomatoes in april. j

It's impossible to be spot-on... too many variables -- phenos, grow environment, grower skill, etc. Maybe you've just been lucky.
