tru well im fine with jsut growin once a year lol i LOVE the sunyeah but have no life
why dont ya just get a light, build a nice little box, and hit it up inside during other seasons?

Yes, all year. I started with one Afghan female in Oct. of 06. I rejuvenated her once- harvested twice before I screwed up & she died, leaving several clones. One clone has been harvested twice, and just started flowering again. The cloning & rejuving is what got me hooked on growing pot.
Food for thought. When the temps are said to be 65 degrees, that's in the SHADE. Taken for granted that people don't place their plants in the shade, I venture to guess the temps can get up to 80+. In a black container, the entire rooting system will get nice & warm. Once the rays of sun passes, when covered, the roots should stay warm all night. I have a 1,000 watt w/track lite GR set-up, but I still moved my plants out (13 at the time, last winter) every chance I got. It's a bitch, but even 3 full hours of pure sunshine is wonderful for your Ladies. A black bucket with a full 1 gal. jug on top, or dirt will keep high winds from blowing over the 'cover' bucket. Seal the bottom outside of the cover bucket with dirt. A box isn't as aerodynamic. An old time Christmas light puts out enough heat to burn your hand if held too long. Any light to put out just a LITTLE heat will do well. However, without temp control, it would be easy to induce heat stress. So be careful. A small vent hole would work for normal nights, but during a 25 to 30 low, the vent may need to be covered. In ground or in buckets, theory remains the same.
Security: When all growth is dead & brown, beautiful green plants sticks out like a neon sign. For $5. bucks, you can buy 1,000's of cammo seeds; IE: Red clover, (which puts nitrogen in your soil), winter rye, which gets to different heights, so plant the tallest, mustard, & collard greens will flourish also. Just scatter hands full of the seed real heavy all around, and water lightly. This would be the time to add birdseed & bag seed in with the other seeds. Why not, just for kicks. If the pot comes up, cover at night. Try to keep a black water barrel close, to warm up in the day, to water the plants with before covering for the night. Reason, water is a good insulator. A cheap water heater element can be bought at the local appliance store, or get one from and old working electric WH, and heat up the water to about 80 degrees would be perfect, before watering. For in-ground, compost well, & throw an old dark colored piece of carpet around the stalk, like the bottom of a Christmas tree. Water the compost well, lay on the carpet & water the carpet as well. Used carpet is nasty, so wash well with water hose first. You can get all you want for free at the local carpet laying business. Take a sharp razor knife with you. When cutting carpet, cut from the backside. That's your OSHA Safety lesson for the day. All & all, it's just a fucking fantasy.

I'm in the midwest and our gardening rule of thumb is don't plant anything before Mothers Day. It seems to ring true to. Anything I plant before Mothers day doesn't grow as fast as things planted after Mothers day.
I wish I could grow outside all year long, I'm jealous of you warm climate folks.

no its too hot! seriously you can bake cookies in a car! lol right now (summertime) i dont even see 85 degrees! its always hotter then that and then it rains so its all steamy and humid. it sucks

100 in the shade, south wind blowing in Camels & people wearing towels on their heads. The horns started growing, just after I turned blood red. No rain in 3 months, 85% humidity. Cows are medium rare, as they eat dead cactus. Welcome to my nightmare.

We get that in the summer, really hot and so humid you can just stand still and be covered in wet. The air smells like corn plants. Sometime the stink of corn drives me crazy.
In the winter its so cold it would chap a polar bears ass. The wind blows the snow in driving sheets across the empty corn fields.
I get the suck of all seasons. LOL

I am thinking about doing a small grow outside next year. Been growing inside for a while because I have the same miserable conditions as South Texas has except for the cactus. When I used to grow outside, and had to carry water to the plants, I would end up pouring half of it over my head before I even got to my plants. Where I am living now, it wont be as far to the plants so it might be a little easier on my old ass.

Carry fuck! I carry 80 gals, dog bowl, ice chest w/6 pack, my ole' ass in a truck. To offset the Law Dogs, I threw Donuts in my Neighbors yard, 2 miles away. They are still investigating (licking up crumbs). Too old & Ornery to be a-toting shit, 'SPECIALLY BAT SHIT!
