when to start cloning, does anyone know?

i was wondering at about what age would a plant be ready to take clones from? i have been looking into cloning and understand that i should wait till the stem i wanna clone has enough nodes but i just want to know if there's a certain age that the plant is ready to start cloning from.

When the plant starts to alternate nodes instead of growing them side by side it is mature enough to clone and flower.

I waited till my plants were 2 months old and they were showing pre-flowers. Haven't had any problems with using this method.

as soon as i get a decent camera i can post a pic, but the 2 month idea is what i was thinking of doing. my plants will be bout 8 weeks old next week.

well i finally got some pics of my plants, the pics aren't the best quality cuz i had to use my cell phone but here they are. The tallest is about 7 weeks old by now and is at bout 11-12 inches tall and the second plant should be about the same age( maybe off by just a few days) and is at about 9-10 inches. i still have no idea what strain they are or even if they're female, but im waiting to take clones to flower them and see if they're girls, if they are then these are going to be my mother plants and if they're not girls, well then i spend alot of time and energy for nothing. also I'm a lil concerned about the way their leaves look. the seem a lil brown here and there so idk if it's nute burn or what but they've been like that ever since i can remember and doesn't seem to spread to the point where they're going to die. what do you all think?

surprised not many are following this... What are the specs for your lighting? ...They say 100 watts per plant is good enough. I think over that might be like trying grow plants in an oven with a cake already baking in it... you've got some pretty big bulbs there if I'm not mistaken by the angle of your shot... also what strain are you growing (bagseed, indica, sativa)?

if i were you i would pull the top down "LST" or "HST" as some say and get the light as close as you can without burning here ya take a look https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/289968-show-me-what-u-got.html just buy a little pack of rubber bands works great for me the link is up there scroll over show me above

You can clone away as soon as a side branch has formed. Basically as long as you have a side branch with two leaves on it, then you are good to go. Not the branch with the fan leaf, but a small side branch.

why does the dirt look like sand? How long do you wait to water? It looks dry.
I take clones usually a month from seedling. If it grows some branches i can take before that then i will be cloning before 4 weeks.
