when to start cure? using snap branch test

Hi folks, I'm wondering when its come to testing the wee branches breaking before cure and it's described as 'snapping not bending' does that mean that the wee branches will be dry enough to snap clean off (or in half) or just that you can tell the difference between it feeling like it's bending and feeling like its snapping ( but not completely breaking) if that makes sense? I started my drying last sunday, every was going well (temp wise/humidity) then on the morning of day 3 drying the temp has risen to 22.5 and the buds were all crispy on the outside, got advised to put them into a cardboard box then to try and regain some moisture out of the branches and back into the buds. Now on day 7 of drying (4 in box) and branches are snapping but not 'breaking off', should i start the cure? thanks for any help folks

This is a terrible way to gauge when to cure, IMO.
Well I dunno, can only go by what I read until I gain the experience and like I had mentioned I think I messed up the drying in the first few days, and was unsure then what to do to regain a bit of moisture as i didn't want to keep it in the drying 'cupboard'. What way do you gauge when to cure Bugeye? All info greatly appreciated :)...... I thought that branch snap was a given?

Curing is an art.

If you put them into jars while the stems snap, there likely isn't enough moisture to produce connoisseur grade quality buds.

indeed and i hope that i can learn, understand and improve on the whole process, only 3rd time for me.
So would you reckon to put them into jars before the stems 'snap'?.
The last one i grew i started the cure i suppose with about the same level of snappiness in the branches and it turned out to be a nice smoke, smooth, not headachy or harsh. so i'm kinda hoping now that this one will be the same to a certain degree, but in no doubt that the whole process for me can improve.

Subcool had an article written for CannabisCulture like 20 years ago that helped me understand what I need to do. Well, it basically told me what to do lol. Sorry, couldn't find it.

Personally, I never jar stems with buds as stems usually have more moisture and may give false readings of moisture content. Stems may be an good indicator of bud moisture but it ain't the stems you smoke. Use a hydrometer for checking the buds after trimming from stems.
When buds settle at 60-62% for a few days after a slow dry, I start burning the evidence.

Research hygrometer usage for curing, this will tell you exactly when to start curing. Trim before you can snap or crack a stem, if you go to late you will miss the cure. Trim when outer leaves feel crispy but inner buds are still damp. That’s it, not much else to know.

Cheers old reefer, i won't be jarring the stems just wondered about using the stems as an indicator when to put into jars. i've recalibrated my hygrometers and have now trimmed off the buds and put into jars so i'll put the meters into the jars now too?...the rh in the box they were in before trimming was reading at about 60% so i went ahead with the jars. Fingers crossed now they'll cure nicely or as good as my novice growing will allow at this stage. just tried a wee smoke there and head is spinning a bit now lol.

Make sure to monitor it. If that hydro meter climbs above 65 in the jars you need to dry more.
