Hello

I wanted to know when I should start using nutrients my grow medium will be rockwool I know that I should pH the water to around 5.5 soak. Doing 18 on and 6 off with lights. Since the rockwool isn't pre nutrient should I mix in anything besides pH water?

Hi Vitov,
I start plants in rockwool and then into coco. Coco, like rockwool, has zero nutrients. You need to feed early. I start feeding seedlings at roughly 250ppm. You could add a very slight amount of nutrients into the soak water. Maybe 1/8 strength.

Then just ease ppm up as they grow.

Would clonex cloning solution be a good choice to add into the pH water from the get-go?

No...for two reasons. First...it's best the get it in high concentration directly on stem. Second is that the chemicals in it are harsh. Best to keep it contained.

solution and gel are two different things, at least from clonex. the solution is actually 1-.6-1 fertilizer "designed for clones".....the gel has a lot of IBA in it, the solution has none

Thanks Rog...so I guess the "solution" would be a good choice. Didn't know it existed.

Okay got it would you suggest which brand to start feeding them with? Thanks
Well since Shrubber set me straight on the solution...use that for now. Nutrients can be almost a personal choice...but newbies should try and keep things simple. That way easier to sort out if you have any issues.

I use the GH maxi series. It's a simple 1 part powdered hydro nutrient. Many guys use the Maxi-bloom all the way through.
