Top through out veg to "create" multiple tops.Doing it after 12/12 only results in loss of tops.top then give a few day's before transplanting, less stress all at once.

"Veg state" starts as soon as they poke through the soil,(or a week later. for those who are counting the "seedling stage") as long as your lights are set to veg time, and not 12/12.

ok ...and make the cut just above an intersection, that will split into two, then do it to each of those a few more times right...also for lighting,I have 2x 40 w sylvania deluxe daylight 48" ,2000 lumens,6500k,2 daylight cfls I think 1600 lumens each ,6500k and a 39w sunblaster full spectrum not sure of the lumens....is this adequate for now,my plants are around 10 inches tall

assuming nodes are each intersection,I would say 4-6 mabe 7 on 1 of them,They were kind of neglected when I got them and I wanted to try and bring them back haha,so they are different sizes and had a tough life so far....look pretty good now tho..

why top ? what is the MAIN reason for it ?
The main reason is too create multiple tops sitting in the SWEET ZONE of your light. Due to the inverse square law of artificial lighting. It isnt as productive to grow christmas tree shaped plants indoors under artificial lighting, but better to have shorter squatter plants.

From what I know,it makes the plant start another 2 cola buds,if you top those it will split into 4 and so on,...its kinda like turning 1 plant into a couple.

I like to cut the tops out and leave only 4-6 nodes on the plant.Topping early lets you do a bit more topping throughout your veg, topping the ends of the new main branches. All about how big you can let your plant get also.

I think ya got it down dreadful.

awesome!!now soil...haha I am gonna transplant tomorrow morning,I have had them in MG 18-10-10 for the last bit but that much soil for nine plants sounds pricey can I use ready to go potting soil or mix cause it`s cheaper and use MG ...I think 24-10-16 all purpose fert until the flowering...sorry if this is off the thread topic, not sure if I`m supposed to start a new one for this...haha I`m a newbie!
