When to transplant?

Quick question here.. I'm currently growing in soil, 1 gal pots. How big should I let them get before I transplant into 5 gal bags? They are about 2 weeks old meow. Is there a general timeframe or rule of thumb?

LOL, 2 weeks old, not to laugh, but when I start in a solo cup (16-20 ounces, 128 ounces in a gallon), I don't usually transplant until 21-30 days, or when the plant is about 5-7 inches tall and the Solo cup is full.
When you start them in a larger pot like that, it is going to take a lot longer to see the foliage growth of the same size, as the plant will try and build a good root foundation to fill part/ all of the container before it focuses on the foliage growth.
My rough guess, 2 months on a veg schedule with good feeding and good conditions before you would want to, not to mention does the plant NEED it yet.

When you see roots poking through the bottom of your pot and seems to want watering more often. Also growth may be slow...hope this helps.

I started them in rock wool cubes. They were just in those for about a week after they popped through. So I guess they are closer to 3 weeks old. They seem to be exploding with growth everyday. I don't think they mind going from a cube for a week straight into 1 gal pots. But, I also have been giving them bush drs root drench.
