You shouldn't top it's only going to reduce your yield :weed:
I know its a very widely debated topic lol. On the old skool autos.. The low ryders etc.. Definatly no topping! The newer bigger strains out there, stay in veg for a longer period. If topped at the right time... It can actually increase yeild, on an Indoor grow where night I an issue and light penetration isn't as good as the sun. It takes away the 1 dominant cola and gives a more even canopy. Id be more inclined to FIM than TOP. Just never done it.. So throwing caution to the wind.

Cheers mate

Do you have another plant going of the same strain? Top or fim one I have never did it and I haven't see a grow journal where they have so you should turn this into a grow journal...I'm in for the ride to crazy town

Dude top it...check out my thread A Bunch Of Em This Time... Topping (after the 3rd set of true leaves) definitely increased yield. I tried it in several different strains at the same time. I top....:weed:

I would wait till the plant first starts to flower,
look at the plant and work out if you top the plant, will you have a large full canopy, if you do, top the plant as low as you need to.

The fuller the canopy the higher the yeild, you need to have shoots 10-12" long, green thick and heathy stems with close node spacing

sometimes you can cut the top 50% off a plant and end up with 15 x 10" top shoots ( 1/2 oz's cola's ) all the same height, first week in true flower

and you will pull a bumper crop, by not topping the plant you end up with a large 4ft plant with one large 12" cola ( 2 oz's) and 1 oz's of small buds

Not topping and auto is and old myth, like others sed maybe with old school autos, but with this new generation of autos it actually helps a lot, i have done both stages to experiment veg and early flower when they just show preflowers and start doing the stretch, found out that they dont even get stunt not even for half a day during stretch, i raised my lights today twice in one day with the one i topped in stretch, but i won't advice to do it with vegetating plants because they seem to get stunt like for 2-3 days. Happy growing and merry Xmas to all!! @tropical

gotta do it before or right at preflower other wise it wont make branches it will just be a xmas tree with no top
lol you want a xmas tree with no top.
The ideal is to shape the plant at the end of the strech so you have 100% over the plants shape in flower, its like shaping a bonsai tree or a bush
take control fellow

lol if you top it late then you are removing what is the be the main cola and not making new ones

My avatar is a tyrone special that was fimmed at the 3rd node.I aggressively train them to keep the height down. This one is just 17in from soil to one of her top colas.I think you have to consider each plant. The more vigorous they are,the more you can get away with training I think.

Incidentally here is a sour bubbly thats already fimmed and working on training.I cut mine early because it lets you alter the shape of the plant to a greater degree than if you were to wait and do it later.

What if my plants are more than 3 sets of true leaves high mate? Do I top to that level or the node they are at. Also top or fim?

Cheers
