When using a res how to FEED with every other watering??

Hey guys- I can sure try.

What nutrients are you feeding with?
At what concentrations? (In ml/gallon if you can, rather than ppm)
And you're in straight coco? Or cut with perlite? If so, what % approx.?

What problems are you experiencing? Have pics of the plants?

And why do you suspect that alternating feeds with plain water might remedy it? Personally, I really don't like the idea of giving straight water to plants in coco, except during the final flush. I know a couple guys who do it, but the benefits of it are questionable IMO. I guess the best way to approach it in this case is just to have you explain why you are leaning toward doing that exactly.

My
main reason is because I'm getting a lot of nute buildup in my coco after a 6 week veg and my runoff is over 2800ppm before I flush.

Running Bltanicare cns17 1 part grow at 800ppm in veg with Cal Mag and Superthrive

I've run CNS17 before. You can get away with 400ppm (CNS17 and CalMag combined). Results will be as good or better. Weight will not suffer and the plants will be easier to flush properly before harvest. Less salt build-up, and you spend less money on nutrients.

If you don't want to do that, simply add a flushing agent (like Drip Clean, etc.) to your base nutrient every 21 days or so. Flushing agents are just sugar water, and adding sugar to your nutrient solution will accomplish the same thing (i.e. breaking the bonds between salts and the coco). I use Sucanat, but you can use just about any form of sugar, including molasses.

IMO it's completely unnecessary to run plain water through your coco at any time other than the final flush prior to harvest. Lower your ppms and feed every time. Your plants will appreciate the consistency.

No offense to anyone who does things differently. There's more than one way to skin the cat we're all working on. Just sharing my thoughts.

Honestly man I think I may be subscribing to this theory now that my last few mid cycle flushes my plants have been pretty locked up and had runoffs of 2500+ PPMS. Major headache to flush them for long periods of time. The bottle of CNS17 says like 20ml gal. This gives you around 1800ppm. Im running about 10ml but gonna drop to about 5-6ml gal. Which seriously makes growing with CNS17 SUPER cheap.

It works. I got the balls to try it a couple years ago when some of the most solid growers you can imagine were swearing that it had changed their grows completely, after 20-30 years of them feeling like they had their methods dialed. I cut my ppms in 1/2 (had always run them a little low anyway) and never even a hiccup. Same plants, healthier growth, picture perfect leaves, same yield, superior final quality.

A few nutes I use off and on.

PBP Bloom 1-4-5: label says 15-20 ml... I use 5-8 ml.
Flora Nova Bloom: label says 4+ ml... I use 2 ml.
X Nutrients Grow: label says 15-20 ml... I use 5-8 ml.

It also allows you to hit your ideal pH mark with far less pH adjuster. I rarely need pH down for anything; I use silica for pH UP. Takes about 1 ml/gallon to bring my nutrient solutions up from 4.5-ish to 6.0-6.2.

Lots of benefits- give it a shot and see if it works in your garden.
