Where can I find the best bang-for-the-buck soluble seaweed/kelp extract?

Hi Guys,

I keep reading high praises for Seaweed/Kelp extract. I can't seem to find anyone who doesn't like the stuff. So I figured I'd give it a try for my plants, as well as some other plants around the house.

Question is, where can I get the best deal on the soluble powder extract? I'd like the kind I can use as a foliar spray as well as mix into water. I've seen a few brands around, Technaflora, Maxicrop, etc. but I figured the base ingredients is probably all coming from the same place and I hate overpaying for watered down bottles at the hydro store.

So, best deal? highest concentration? cheapest? Anything at Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowes?

Thanks!

The liquid is a superior product no question. Ive used all sorts and types. ... I particularly like 'Maxicrop' although the shelf life is shorter than for powders.

Liquid is good. Age old kelp.is cheap for that. Dry kelp meal has more minerals and amino acids and potassium than liquid. You can make a foliar out of that and top dress. Its cheaper than liquid. I use grow more brand. That's all they have locally. $6 for 2 lbs.

Basically, the powder takes longer to break down and be used by the plant than the liquid. Also the liquid is easier to apply as a foliar feed and won't bung up a sprayer.

Good luck.

I just figured it would be a better value than the liquid and I could mix it up as needed, but it sounds like the liquid is the way to go. I'm sure I can find some locally to save on shipping, or I'll get it on Amazon.

Thanks!

Best bang for the buck I've found is nitrozime. It's expensive but that shit works so good. Short dense babies. I'm sure everyone is gknna flame me and I already know why but it's sooooo worth it

What they said about meal. All the liquids are made by a company who adds water to the meal. There is ONE main supplier out of skandanavia and they ship it all over. The middlemen add water and strain it and add junk we dont need. Buy a kelp meal and make your own IMO. Talk about good shelf life, meal keeps very very well.

That said the thrive alive green and extreme serene were my two favorites when I thought the liquids were the way to go. Then I switched to technaflora soluble seaweed 1-1-17, now I just buy meal and add it to the mix and occasionally make a foliar spray. Kelp Meal for the win.

a quote from Mr. CC who knows way more than me on the subject:

Kelp meal is available from a number of packers and it's all from Nova Scotia so it doesn't matter if the label says E.B. Stone, Dr. Earths, Fertrell, Light House, Acadian Seaplants, Neptune's Harvest (Kelp meal only), Down To Earth, whomever. Buy on price and price only.

IMHO, kelp is all important and cannot be replaced or duplicated with other amendments. Liquid seaweed products (like Maxicrop) are not even close to kelp meal. Never. Ever. Regardless of the claims on the bottle.
Meal is the cheapest and the most complete option. Learn to ditch the dro store mentality and you will enjoy your garden and produce more.

^^^^ I like kelp meal more over liquid kelp too. Liquid smells like dirty Hippy feet x wet dog. After you steep kelp meal for a day or 2 and adjetate regularly. It smells like the ocean. I love that ocean smell. Plus I see better and faster results from foliars with meal too.
