Where did I go wrong?

Hi all

New to this forum and weed in general. Interestingly, I've never actually smoked the thing but got hold of a few seeds so thought I'll give it a shot at growing them along with some other plants.

I planted 5 seeds

2 in a pot of soil
2 in a pot of compost
1 in a mix of compost and soil

The compost plants are dead, soil is struggling and the one in the mix is doing okay I guess but looking very limp. They were planted around a month ago and have been sitting on a shelf in the kitchen. No special lights or anything, just natural sunlight.

Is it even viable to frow them this way? Did I mess up putting 2 in 1 pot?

read more on this site and others. Where you went wrong??? Well, starting out clueless. Just because stoners can do it doesn't make it easy. Do some study... good luck.

You can start your seeds in soil. Just soil no compost. Add compost after transplanting then to a bigger pot if your growing with the sun take them out side in a larger pot or plant in ground if you cant grow outside get a good light.

They've been getting plenty of sun. Thabks for the replies all.
Let me start by saying welcome to RIU. I understand you feel these little ladies are getting plenty of light but I can tell you 100% they are not. They are about as stretched out as I have ever seen a seedling, tall that stretching says they are not getting enough light. A couple tips. 1 is get some light for them. I don't know if it is a window blocking rays or what the issue is but if you want to be successful you will need more light. 2 do some research on the soil you are going to put them in. Seedlings need very little nutrition, as a matter of fact they need zero nutes for the first 2 weeks as the seed has all the built in nutrition they need for that period. I personally grow in coco with perlite, it has zero nutes in it and allows me to only give the plant what it needs. 3 keep researching. There is a search icon in top right and I am sure you will find all the information you need and more to do a successful grow with some research. 4 and my last point, don't get frustrated. It can be an emotional hit when your plants do what yours are doing but we learn more from failure than we do from success. If you are truly interested in growing just use this as a learning tool and learn from it. What you have learned so far is the way you did this does not work, that is not a failure but the basis of science. It is not only about finding out what works but also about finding out what does not. Without both sides of the story you can never have a true understanding of what is going on and why the plants react in certain ways. Good luck, I hope you stick with it.
