Where did I go wrong?

I germinated my seeds for 3 days and then added them each to a 2qt pot with Miracle-Gro® Seed Starting Potting Mix and some perlite. One seed took about 4 days to grow 3/4' inch with 4 tiny leaves and the other seed never really took to the soil. The two plants were grown under 4 x 23w CFLs attached via a clamp light that was kept on 24/7.

yeah i dont trust those "Brand Name" soils you buy at the grocery store or lowes or home depot.

Some say they put in bad things...some say they're just fine.

But when i germinated my seeds in that same stuff...my seeds took forever to sprout...and they are really slow.

I recommend nest time...going to your local hydro-shop or indoor garden store, and getting "Sunshine Seedling Mix" or "Sunshine Mix #4"

Theyre good...as well as Fox Farms Ocean forest

Thanks for the help everyone. So I germinated some more seeds and once they cracked I placed them each in 1" rockwool cubes that was soaked in 5.5 pH water. Then I lined the bottom of 2 4" pots with a layer of newspaper, then a layer of perlite, then filled the rest of the pot with organic potting soil, leaving 1 inch to the top free. I made a little ditch to stick each cube in and leveled the dirt with cube to make it even. The seeds were kept under 4 CFLs (2 - 100W and 2 - 120W) 24/7 receiving water any time the soil became dry and dusty on top. It has been a week now and the seeds have shown no progress. Any ideas?
