where do i buy mylar??

where can i buy it, what kind do i need, and what do i tell the person at the store i need it for?

can get mylar primeralives at a hydro-shop or online or so i have heard in a £-store have a look here at this link and find the closest hydro-shop to you

if not flat white paint is allmost as good as mylar

i dont have a hydro shop near me. could i find it at a hardware store or a greenhouse?

In the camping section at Walmart.Emergency blanket's are made of mylar. So check your first aid kit

nice, i was looking at walmart and didnt know where to look for a emergency blanket, ill just do that thats alot less sketchy than buying a roll of mylar,

You can use wrapping paper from the dollar store. They have one that is just like mylar.

Emergency Blankets:

These are ultra thin polyester blankets that are sold in most camping stores and are constructed of a single layer of polyester film that is covered with a layer of vapor deposited aluminum.

It is not very effective at reflecting light because it is so thin. Holding it between you and a light source, many small holes are noticed at the intersections of creases and the entire blanket is translucent to begin with, this coupled with the many creases that are in it when you purchase it takes away a significant amount of it reflectivity. It is very easily creased as well which also detracts from its ability to reflect light. And while it is reflects nearly 90% of radiant heat energy, it is only able to reflect around 70% of the light.

The largest advantage of using this type of material is that it is very cheap and therefore easily replaced. Emergency blankets can create hotspots if not attached flush to the wall so it is important that no air gaps exist between it and your supporting wall. The easiest way to attach this is to use tape (Aluminum or metal tape is recommended), as it tears very easily once it is cut or punctured.

Heat could be a serious problem with emergency blankets. They're better at containing heat than light. Perhaps you could cut away the mylar section from the rest? I'm not sure.

I had to order mine, i went to Home Depots, lowes, ect... and they didnt have it...

Far out. Reading this thread lead me to do a search for a hydroponic store near me... found one that has got everything you could possibly need for "indoor gardening"

forget mylar, you can get polished aluminum in big rolls that doesn't tear, doesn't stain or wear out, and reflects great. they use it for protecting buidlings from wildfires www.firezat.com/ you want to get the standard duty one, i got a roll 1200 sq feet this shit is amazing. wear sunglasses around it, mega light everywhere

I just got mine on ebay, very cheap.

The insides of many packaged goods are lined with mylar. Chips especially.
