Where have all the good people gone

No Offense there my brother...but us on the east coast don't need your west coast weed. That's the base of it....my niece works on the west coast and will bring some of that "fire" west coast bud back here, and it doesn't hold up to the east coast bud buddy. You need to come to the east coast and see what we have...just drive any where around here...N.H, Maine, Vermont, Mass, we all grow our own, and we have done it for a while, and to be honest, we do it rather well. We can't grow it outside here, it's too wet, so there are a shit load of greenhouses, but you can smell the bud for mile after mile around here...
Why are your packs so much more than the packs in Cali why do people ship bud from cali out there so much?

I have not used calu weed in 40 years but 2 years ago ILGM started using cali seed banks to get around customs and the quality was so poor that I switched to NIRVANA to get high quality seeds.for a time anyone in cali could become a commercial grower for a low fee. but in nevada and other states wher it's legal many people grow their own.

If someone tells me they got weed from Cali I dread even trying it. I mean I know you guys got good weed there but it mostly stays there. Plugs still hype it saying it's jet fuel Gelato, mean time custies won't buy it because cause it's low grade.

You guys ruined your brand, your the new Mexican swag weed.
Yes. Yes it does. :bigjoint:
It's a bit like our surf culture - we'll take you to the known spots - Swamis, Malibu, Rincon, Steamer or Ft Point; but access to the crown jewels is gonna take some time and effort. I'm sure the East Coast is the same - although I've never needed to find East Coast weed - so maybe you're right; we don't export our good stuff.

It seems that legalization has made black market weed more desirable, and the best weed is not in the dispo.
Actually, that was one of the impetus for growing my own - I kept buying dispo weed with harvest dates from 4-5 months ago.:spew: On the good side, you don't need a grinder - a little pressure and it turns to powder. :wall: Oh, and I never knew that GG#4 had a strong citrus taste - or more likely it was a random strain.
The very first bowl of my own weed let me know that I didn't want dispo weed anymore, just concentrates & other stuff I don't make on my own.

So I gotta agree somewhat - 90% of dispo weed in California is shit. But Nevada's weed was shit AND expensive - bringing my own to Laughlin next time!

Like I said...East Coast Bud is the new FYRE! As you kids say, in my time, it was called kind bud. And real kind bud is grown by a medical patient for themselves. Kinda like a small batch so to speak. None of that outdoor crap...that's only good for edibles...for smoke...you want indoor grown, well cured weed...and that takes a lot of time, money and especially love.

Over here it was called Da Kine or Da Kine Bud - or Skunk #1 - I just wanted to hear, "Do ya have any more of that?" :bigjoint:

I do like East Coast weed. Made some friends who shared the goods while surfing OBX a lotta years ago. EC Diesel if I remember.

We should meet in the middle and have a showdown. Let the buds duke it out!
I doubt we'll come to any conclusions, but it should be fun! bongsmilie

Out here there is some really good dispo weed, you just have to know the delivery schedule.
But, as you pointed out - the great weed isn't in the dispo, is it? (Great weed will be at my buddy's place soon, he chopped the other day!)

I think I've grown some great weed so far - but I might be a bit biased. ;)

Considering every single grower has their own methodology and quality standards, it's the height of idiocy to make blanket statements regarding the quality of cannabis from any geographical area.
Agreed - I just want to try some unfamiliar strains!
That was why I suggest a showdown - no winners, but everybody gets a prize. :bigjoint:

Geography* mostly goes away once you go indoors. There may be some local ambience to combat, but for the most part it's all up to genetics and the grower's ability to provide optimum conditions and tending.

*Know why NorCal was where most of the Ca grown weed was from during prohibition?
Not the soil or conditions (which are pretty freakin' good, actually)
It's the miles and MILES of hilly, mountainous terrain covered in dense redwood forest that was mostly untouched, and unpatrolled (until later) by man. Even Skunk #1 is a stealth grow when it's 10 miles away from nothing...

Once indoor became common, Humboldt still reigned supreme, but SFV indoor grows caught up fast.

you are right my friend....to really find that "kind" bud....you really have to know someone today...that store bought weed is worthless. It just barely medicates you...but I would love to meet ya somewhere in the middle..somewhere like Colorado, and not let them in our little competition...HAHAHA. I think that would be great...we could show the midwest how to grow weed...who knows how they do it...probably right out of a freshly dropped pile of cow shit...lol

So true! We have a about a dozen dispos in my town, and there's a few in surrounding towns too. My Wife & I went to A LOT of them when it first became legal, but then I started trimming as a side job (buddy called and asked), now I'm growing.

My trimming was for a commercial op - we could buy fresh "friends & family" (Da Kine!) ounces cured in mason jars for the price of a dispo 1/4. - I've found that FRESH dispo weed is some seriously tasty product when grown right! - Chemdawg, GG#4 & Kosher Kush rocked - WiFi was just like top-shelf dispo - that's the money maker. Still have that number - maybe I should expand the collection a bit....

Dispo vs mine & most other home grows :
I think there's a direct comparison to beer - when I still drank:
Budweiser - it's budweiser, what else do you need to know - dispo weed is dispo weed......
Getting a growler off the tun at Stone Brewery in San Diego - It's not really the same beverage at all, is it?

I bet if we brought an ounce our best dispo weed from East & West - anywhere really
--- we'd avoid it till the good stuff is as gone as our taste buds. bongsmilie

There's a few exceptions here:
I still get notifications of when my local dispo ships things I like ( Velvet Purps or Blue label Temple Balls for example ).
https://www.leafly.com/strains/velvet-purps Unique terpene profile, smells like red wine. Really euphoric and giggly, very sensory - date night weed - and since I never have enough to get a tolerance it's always a strong performer.

What’s changed in California is most old school growers are gone. Either forced out by legalization or old age..
Very sad, very true.
Tech and taxes - two things The Old Hippy couldn't tolerate.
He never owned a mobile phone - he was convincd that they could track your every movement --- oh wait.....
Grouchy, threatened to shoot me once or twice. But get him talking about "herb" - all smiles and DEEP knowledge. Wish I'd paid more attention now.
Probably not a mentor for me per se, but I learned a lot from them:
Be generous - they always sent us home with road food, an extra ounce or two & sometimes some hash.
Be honest - one hint of dishonesty and he would cut ties with people. He trusted nobody, so honesty is the ONLY policy.
Be Smart - The Old Hippy & his Wife constantly helped us with scent control, pricing, handling money, handling customers and more - if they kept us safe, then they would be safe.
Be Silent - Maybe the most important of all - STFU!!! It was the '80s and we were moving 25-Life every month, silence is golden.

yes, if you bring it indoor, it's up to the grower, mostly. BUT...you can bring a local taste to it...here in Maine...we have a lot of local resources....like lobster compost and local costal dirt.

I'm on the other side - West Coast, SoCal. Just started learning about making my own kelp extracts & powders; looking into the viability of using stone crab shells --- they're abundant, regs allow a 35 count bag limit - and they're YUMMY (even if they're a lot of work on the table - lol).
Our Spiny Lobster here are closer to crawfish - no claws, but (wait for it....) spines.
We used to SCUBA for them back in the day - '80s - Early '00s.
Too many idiots are depleting the population - taking pasted or even egg bearing females. - You need to know where to go these days.
Might have to dust off the tanks! :P

Local flavor - big swells and onshore winds bring a nice salt-tang to the air here, and my intakes pull from outside. :bigjoint:

Nice. Didn't know you were a diver. I still have my certification, but haven't been in awhile.

Not sure where my cards are - got up to Rescue Diver (PADI)

Money & family made me stop going as much, but I still get out a couple times a year. :bigjoint:
Used to spend the weekends hunting in the kelp beds around here.
Lobster, Crab & Scallops on SCUBA,
Halibut, White Seabass, & rockfish mostly while spearfishing (freediving).

Great times! I didn't even get a license this year - first time in YEARS
Getting one on Jan. 2 this year & planning to wear it out!
I live close to the water, so no excuses!

I got certified when I was 13. I haven't been in awhile though, and now I'm in CO. No ocean around me.

I loved spearfishing and crabbing in the Pacific Northwest.

You guys have the big 'Buts up there! Pacific Halibut

We get them now & then, usually at the islands in the winter - but normally we get California Buts - a little smaller & IMHO a bit less flavor.

Our main thing when I was younger was diving for Spiny Lobster - I like 3-5# bugs - anything larger seems to get tougher / chewier; plus the larger animals tend to be more vigorous breeders - more for next season! Can only be caught by hand or by hoop-net. We only dove for them back then.

We'd anchor up a Hunter 336 or a 29' Wellcraft at Prisoner's Harbor and run the dinghy over to legal hunting grounds and have limits bagged by 9pm (7 each) & usually some scallops (silver dollar size meat - TASTY!)
Quick run back to the boat and we'd boil a couple for dinner.
Great crew of us back then - only a few left. Time to make some calls... :bigjoint:
