I'd like to buy. I thought because there was so much encouragement amongst people to DIY COB that there would maybe be people who are now selling them over eBay.
Hey broham, I am happy to help as I believe you would get the most bang for the buck with some kind of kit. It is very easy to assembly with minimal tools. If you do go with a COB kit, just start a thread on your build and tag me @Growmau5 in any post and I / we will walk you thru it.I'm looking at Mau's diy COB videos's in free time and trying to get idea if its something that I could take on.
You're wanting to diy or buy a pre made fixture?
hes hasn't stocked the vero29's for a while in unless he back ordered: but its always out of stock.Hey broham, I am happy to help as I believe you would get the most bang for the buck with some kind of kit. or, if you are looking for something complete that can act as an enhancement to run along side of your existing Mars, a dual Vero29 unit from Tasty, Timber, or Northern grow lights would be a nice starting point. probably a 4000k to accent what you already have.

I just had a homoerotic daydream with you and I working in the backwoods wiping the sweat from our brow and sharing a water bottle. Swapping man jokes and mocking each other's prowess with a chainsaw. No touching though because I do not think I am actually homosexual. Your helpfulness and enthusiasm for design just gives me a little man crush is all. I am rather handy with a chainsaw none the less.@SoOLED yeah, it looks like $350 leaves him $100 short to pursue some of these "better" options. so what does he do, just go HPS, some kind of DIY 315 CMH, or save up a little.. I have some stuff I need done if @usernamereview wants to earn $100. Do you know how to operate a chain saw or excavator?
getting the tent would help, he has: 2 of these: https://www.mars-hydro.com/LED-Grow-Lights-Cannabis-Reflector-144.aspx@SoOLED yeah, it looks like $350 leaves him $100 short to pursue some of these "better" options. so what does he do, just go HPS, some kind of DIY 315 CMH, or save up a little.. Just a comment that could save you some disappointment related to those Mars 144 fixtures. I have a bunch of them, when I started indoor I bought a bunch cheap. After 2 runs flowering though I switched away from them for flowering. That said, I still use them and haven't had a single failure, not even a diode in any of the 6x panels I have. I only use them for clones/seedlings and vegging, for that purpose they're quite good, they produce next to nothing in heat so they can be used in small spaces and it's easy to dial in the environment. But by the time you get to flowering, I'd highly recommend any of the COB lighting or CMH mentioned in posts here vs. the Mars. While they can technically flower plants, any of the other options mentioned here will give you double/triple the weight. Whether DIY or off-the-shelf, sounds like some of the modular smaller COB designs might fit well into your space. You could start slow and add later as you go. Good luck...I'm going to hopefully get my grow room significantly "set up" this weekend and will take clear pictures of the bare area's to show anyone generous enough to help. Having everything cleared will make it easier to see whats what. Maybe rethink how much bigger or smaller a "Vegging" tent I need.
GrowMau5 I haven't had enough time to fully view your DIY videos but when or if I do attempt to build I will definitely start a new thread and tag you. TY
Also I do have more money to spend, $350 is about the mid-point. I think I just need to get what I have set up, take pictures, and decide on how much of the rest of the bedroom I want to take up with a Veg Closet and whether after looking at those things whether I want to take over the whole rest of the bedroom and use that for open flowering.
SoOLED is right about what I have so far the (2) Mars 144 Reflector Series. The coverage on these is 2x4, so they are perfect for the 6.5'ft long closet (28" long, actual). I like the fixtures long shape and spill of light coverage. I was hoping to continue buying fixtures in this shape whether they either be an LED fixture or COB. Then I could intermix and change around lights whether they be in the closet or grow tent, or even the rest of the bedrooms floor plan if I decided to add more fixtures to fill the whole room.
Its a bit much, and I've never set up or grown before in any capacity. I just know that I have one extra room in my house and it would better be served to grow plants for me to help alleviate my condition.
I also found at work that I have a light tester to measure the power of the lights so when I get the Mars fixtures up I'll take a pic and let you know where they came out.
Yeah that was much my take when I went indoor and I like those panels for vegging. The change in spectrum using either COBs or CMH (I use both) for flowering does a nice job when you flip them and imo puts them in great shape for flowering. This is my current flowering round, half the room closest to the camera is 3x 100w Tasty 3590 COBs, the back half just going into stretch is a Sun Systems 315w CMH/LEC. Both produce some nice bud for the wattage, either one can pull a lb. if you're growing for weight.@GroErr , thats the kind of real info about the Mars 144 fixtures that I was looking for. At least they're good for something (Vegging) and they could be used for something until I figure out what proper lights I want to use for flowering.
I won't be buying anything but LED's or COB's so traditional Halide or Sodium are out of the equation. I don't like the idea of having to account for removing the heat from either of the spaces I have to grow.
